Our vision? Empowering people through education, where individuals grow and communities thrive. Graded as Ofsted Good with our Teacher Training provision graded as Ofsted Outstanding, we find our inspiration and drive from the learning communities we serve from both our Chesterfield and Derby campuses. For example, Level 3 Health and Social Care learner Mahmoud Bitar Maatouk, who kindly details our history and what it means to him. "Chesterfield College, nestled in the heart of Derbyshire, has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1841. Originally on the site of a cheese factory, it became established as a mechanics institute and it has since evolved into a vibrant hub of education, offering a diverse range of courses and opportunities for students. Throughout its journey, Chesterfield College has remained committed to providing accessible education to all, empowering individuals to pursue their passions and achieve their aspirations. Its legacy is woven into the fabric of the community, shaping the lives of countless individuals over generations. To me, Chesterfield College is more than just an institution; it's a catalyst for personal growth and transformation. It's where I discovered my strengths, honed my skills, and forged lifelong friendships. It provided not only academic knowledge but also invaluable life lessons and experiences that have shaped who I am today. Chesterfield College represents resilience, opportunity, and the power of education to change lives. As it continues to adapt and innovate in an ever-changing world, its legacy will endure, inspiring future
generations to reach for the stars.

What does the future of manufacturing look like? 🏗️

National Manufacturing Day gave us the chance to celebrate the people, skills and opportunities shaping the sector - and it’s an exciting time for manufacturing at Chesterfield College.

Our new Advanced Manufacturing and Life Sciences building is now open, giving students access to modern, specialist facilities and industry-relevant equipment as they develop the skills needed for careers in engineering, manufacturing, technology and beyond.

We also supported Made in Chesterfield’s National Manufacturing Day activity, with more than 70 students from six local schools visiting manufacturing businesses across Chesterfield and taking part in an Innovation Challenge. Chesterfield College students also helped judge the challenge alongside local businesses.

A huge thank you to Matt from Arden Coffee for his continued support of our students!

Matt delivered an outstanding coffee workshop, alongside his colleague Steph, who shared her expertise on a variety of products, flavours, and industry trends.

The session provided our students with invaluable knowledge and inspiration as they prepare to design and develop their own seasonal specials. Opportunities like this help bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice, giving our students the confidence and skills needed for success in the hospitality sector.

Thank you both for your time, passion, and ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of hospitality professionals. ☕👏

What a fantastic week for our Level 2 EAL Diploma in Engineering (Manufacturing Route) learners during National Manufacturing Week!

Our learners visited United Cast Bar to explore real-world manufacturing environments and gain insight into industry practices. They also represented the college at Barrow Hill Roundhouse, where they judged a school's competition showcasing innovative ideas and highlighting the importance of manufacturing in our region.

Experiences like these are invaluable in helping our learners connect classroom learning with industry, build confidence, and develop the skills needed for future careers in engineering and manufacturing.

A lovely afternoon of hospitality in the community! ☕🍰

Today, our Hospitality students headed to Trinity Church in Chesterfield to put their skills into practice, hosting an afternoon tea for members of the church community.

From preparing and serving the food to creating a welcoming experience for guests, it was a great opportunity for our students to gain real-world experience while giving something back to the local community. 💙

A big well done to everyone involved! 👏
