A big well done to all our students who received their GCSE results this morning! It was great to see the Heartspace so busy with students and their friends and family members coming to support.

We spoke to a couple of our students about their results and their time at college.

Gabriel was over the moon to pass his exams; he told us, “I’ve been at college for two years, and when I started I struggled to sit in the classroom and concentrate with English and maths. But when I went to the construction Skills Hub at Staveley, it all changed. I never thought I’d be able to pass. It’s just incredible."

Mark returned to learning to gain his maths qualification, "To do it when you’re old, you want to do it. Also, the teaching methods seem to have got a lot better. I’d certainly tell anyone considering returning to GCSE learning, just give it a go and don’t feel any pressure."

Tulisa achieved a grade five in English, “I just want to say thank you to the tutors at college who have helped me really. I mean, in school I never really got help, and I feel like I got more help here; I feel more comfortable. Eventually I want to own my own salon, but now I’m going to try and get a job in hairdressing to start with.”

Good luck to all our GCSE students collecting their results on Thursday this week!

Results can be accessed online via the learner hub - a link will be sent via email on Thursday morning. Students are also welcome to come to the college and collect their results from the Heartspace between 8.30 am and 10.30 am. This allows students to talk to their tutors and our careers team about their progression options.

It was fantastic to see so many students on campus yesterday celebrating results with friends and their tutors.

We spoke with some of our students about their results and what their next steps are now that they have finished their qualifications at college.

Level 3 Childhood Studies student Grace is delighted with her results, “Overall I achieved an A grade and an A Star in one of my exams so I’m over the moon. I’m now going into either an apprenticeship or full-time employment in a nursery setting.”

Connor, a Business Management Level 3 student, told us, “I achieved a Distinction, Merit, Merit, which means I’ve the grades I want to get into my first choice uni course studying Financial Trade"

Holly studied A Levels in Psychology, Biology and Chemistry, achieving great results. “I’m now progressing into a role with the Armed Forces. College has been really beneficial for me. I had a really difficult time at secondary school, and coming here, it was totally different."

Theo, who studied A Levels, is now progressing onto an apprenticeship in Machining. “The teachers here are amazing; they put in so much effort, and it’s obvious how much they love their subjects."
