In Maths this morning Y1 were introduced to bar models. We experimented with how we could create numbers using Numicon and looked to see if there were any patterns.
We transferred what we know about parts and whole from one model to another and into number sentences.

What better way to test our new knowledge of addresses than to post our very own postcards back to our homes! 🏠

After writing the own messages home inspired by the picture book Meerkat Mail, KS1 went on a short walk to the local post box. 🚶

Last year, our Mighty Explorers entered the Young Artists Nature Explorers Competition, creating some fantastic artwork inspired by their own ideas and imagination.

In Coleman class, we were busy today working with Base 10 to show off our super place value knowledge!🧮

We first started by using the base tens to make different numbers all the way up to 💯!
We then used this knowledge within a place value chart and place the tens and ones in the correct column. Finally, we used numerals to complete out place value charts and record our numbers.

After practicing and learning all about agility, balance and control Quimby class loved getting their heart beat up and applying their new PE skiils to try and “catch” as many bubbles as they could using their rings and hoops 🫧

Our celebration assembly is a wonderful way to start our week sharing all the success’ of last week and looking ahead to how we can demonstrate our school values this week. Kindness and resilience were key this week as we settled in to the routines and expectations that help to keep us ready, respectful and safe.
