🚨 The UK Health Security Agency and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency have issued important public health advice.
These four specified non-sterile alcohol-free wipe products must not be used under any circumstances due to an ongoing risk of infection. These products have been found to be contaminated with Burkholderia species, a bacteria that rarely causes harm in healthy people but sometimes causes serious infections, particularly for those with certain medical conditions or managing IV lines at home.
They are also reminding the public that non-sterile alcohol-free wipes (any brand) should:
❌ Not be used for first aid
❌ Not be applied to broken or damaged skin
❌ Never be used to clean intravenous lines
Please check any wipes you have at home or in care settings and follow official guidance. You can find out more here 👉 https://www.gov.uk/government/news/public-advised-to-stop-using-certain-non-sterile-alcohol-free-wipes
