Did you know popcorn can be dangerous for small children?

Due to it’s size and odd shape it can be difficult for little ones to chew and safely swallow. That makes it a big choking risk. But it also poses a risk of aspiration (where something is breathed into the lungs by accident) which in some cases can lead to pneumonia.

That’s why we recommend you avoid popcorn until your child is at least 5.

Mini eggs of all colours and brands are lining the supermarket shelves. But, did you know that they are the perfect size to block a small child’s airway and choke them? And, their hard shell can make it difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

That’s why they carry a safety warning that they aren’t recommended for children under 4.

So, when you’re stocking up for the Easter Bunny please stay safe and choose another treat for your little one.

Our children have been very interested in people who help us and vehicles. Recently we enjoyed looking at vintage tractors. Today we have had a road safety talk with Clay cross police and a talk from Richard and Peta from the air ambulance service finding out more about their role. We couldn't quite believe the air ambulance can travel up 180mph! We even got a sneaky peak of the air ambulance car.

We would like to wish all our children and families a very happy Christmas. It's been a fun filled week in the run up to the Christmas break, we even got a special visit from the Grinch! Also a big thank you to St. Barnabas Community Centre for providing Christmas dinner to the staff and children. Merry Christmas!
