I sometimes spend part of class just on hands and wrists - such a small thing, but it changes everything about how the rest of the body settles.
The details really do matter.

Have you noticed the evenings drawing in already - it always makes me think about what I want to carry into the new season, rather than what I'm losing from the last one.
Yoga's a good place to have that kind of quiet think.

A small thing I mentioned in class this week that seemed to resonate: most of us have forgotten how to fully exhale - we've got so used to holding a bit of tension it's become the baseline.
A few rounds of proper breathing and you can genuinely feel the shift.
It's one of my favourite parts of Tuesday's class.

A question newer students think about: "Am I doing this right?"
Mostly, if you're steady and at ease at the same time, you are.
That balance is really the whole of it - the rest is detail.

Someone asked me this week why sitting still for ten minutes feels harder than an hour of postures.
Honestly - it often is.
The mind doesn't switch off just because the body has stopped moving.
That's exactly why it's worth doing.

Something I keep coming back to in class: it's rarely the big breakthrough moments that shift things - it's just turning up, week after week, without needing this particular Tuesday to feel life-changing.
If you've been meaning to get back into a routine, Wednesday in Hooton is a nice, low-pressure place to restart.

The bit of class I love most isn't the postures - it's the first few minutes where everyone just arrives.
No pose, no expectation, just settling into the room.
Worth remembering you're allowed to do that in the rest of your week too.

A small thing I noticed when helping someone with their breathing in class this week: most of us think a deep breath is about pulling more air in.
It's really the exhale doing the work - properly letting go, rather than staying half-braced.
Try it next time you catch yourself tensing up.

I had a lovely moment in class this week - someone came in wanting to fix their sleep and left having noticed something completely different about how they carry tension.
What you come for and what you actually need aren't always the same thing - but yoga usually gets you there anyway.
Classes run Tuesdays in Bebington and Wednesdays in Hooton, if you fancy finding out for yourself.
