Our MRes student, Lewis, and Zoology Course Leader, Candice, attended the Royal Entomological Society’s ENTO26 congress at Cardiff University recently. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Lewis presented his interesting work on dragon and damselfly thermal tolerances in a climate change-related talk, and Candice presented the work that she is doing on invertebrate species distribution modelling in collaboration with the Centre for Biological Control at Rhodes University Centre for Biological Control as a poster.

As part of the conference, Candice and Lewis got a behind-the-scenes tour of the National Museum Cardiff’s entomology collection and even went to see some dinosaur footprints preserved on the beach on an afternoon off! 🦖 🦕

It was a great conference, with lots of new connections made – thank you Royal Entomological Society!

Last week, Lecturer in Animal Behaviour, Dr Jodie Gruber delivered fantastic talks at the 10th Annual Meeting of the Animal Welfare Research Network (AWRN) at Chester Zoo (Chester Zoo) and at the Conference on Reptile and Amphibian Knowledge (CROAK).

Jodie’s talk was on using behavioural and physiological indicators of stress to monitor the effects of common toad (Bufo bufo) density in buckets during toads on roads rescues 🐸

The project was funded by a Natural England Species Recovery Grant (Natural England)
