It is St Bede’s school choir Eistedfodd in 1950s. We won 2nd prize. Mr Dowd, Miss Douglas, Miss Jones

Excellent meet up thanks for arranging it…enjoyed walking round the old classroom etc…..60 years!!!!

Hi all, only a week until our latest reunion. In case you’re new to the page, we’re meeting a week today, Thursday 13 April at 1pm outside the old school premises which is now Overleigh St Mary’s. The school is accessible to all. There is parking on site and a tour of the school will hopefully bring back memories of our days in St Bedes. We are meeting afterwards at The Albion in Albion Street. Christina has kindly agreed to open at 3pm so that anyone not able to make the school tour can meet up with friends and fellow students. Please bring photos and any memorabilia to share. Light refreshments will be provided. I’m sure the event will be a great success given the number of people who have liked/commented on our page. Following the school tour on 13 April 1pm. We’ll head to the The Albion Inn Albion Street, Chester. Christina (landlady)has kindly agreed to open the pub early for us from 3pm, please do join us there.

At our old school (now Overleigh St Mary's) on Old Wrexham Road, Handbridge. Parking is available onsite and on the lane. Please meet in the main at 1pm.

Please bring any old photographs of our old school days for all to see and share.

I received a telephone call on Tuesday 18.10.22 from someone who is trying to get in touch with Mr Dowd's family as there is going to be an event in Stockport at the site of the plane crash where sadly our late headmaster and his wife Jane lost their lives on June 1 1967. In an effort to help I have made contact with a few people without any success There are newspaper reports relating to the crash and also an old post from someone who was trying to get in touch with their children Jane and Gregory but sadly nobody has come forward with information. I visited the last known address of Mr and Mrs Dowd and spoke to the current owners. Apparently some years ago someone took pictures of the property saying that relatives lived there in the past. It was suggested that they were visiting from Australia. If anybody has any information to share please contact me, Una Hardwick (nee Meehan) on 07828185867. Its been some time since out last school reunion, myself and Geraldine Jones (nee Hughes) have spoken about the possibility of arranging another reunion. After covid and everything else that is happening in the world we might just arrange one sometime next year...watch this space
