Owl's Forest School

Today, a group of preschoolers loved making Christmas decorations out of wooden medallions. They all had a fabulous time feeling the wood, sticking stickers, threading ribbon and drawing on wood. Thanks to Martin for providing the medallions which involved sawing a branch and drilling the holes in each disc for the ribbon.

Tuesday was a super winter's day-- cold, crisp and dry. A perfect morning drinking tea around the fire while listening to the birds before the session. It was an excellent day to sit round the fire and toast marshmallows. The children enjoyed it and so did the adults.

Celebrate the colours of autumn this October. Here is a fabulous way to use autumn leaves to create window art. The activity also helps children learn more about colours, seasons, textures and numbers in the outdoor classroom. Look at what we made today at forest school.

Forest school got off to a good start this term with some mud monster faces. Check out the little faces preschoolers made yesterday.

Dreaming big and becoming the best you can be in life starts in preschool. Today, at forest school, children could decide who they wanted to be -- a princess, a superhero, an animal or anything else. They then made these lovely masks out of natural and recycled materials. They loved deciding on who they wanted to be and using their creativity and imagination to make it happen.

There is always lots to do at forest school-- whether it rains or shines. Yesterday, we made clay animals with air drying clay and natural materials. Take a look at the lovely creatures we made.

A group of 20 preschoolers had fantastic time building fair and elf houses today just outside Chester. It's amazing how creative such small children can be. They came up with fantastic names for the fairies and creatures who lived in the little dwellings they made. The children and the adults felt inspired by the energy of the earth, warm weather and the power of the human imagination.

The sun is out in Chester, Cheshire, and Owl's Forest School is looking forward to running weekly sessions at a nearby pre-school -- starting next week.

I'm looking forward to an awesome weekend of forest school and forest school parties. Tomorrow morning at forest school, we will be building on our knots and story telling themes. We'll be making stick people as well as a loom to do some wild weaving. Children who are into Crazy Loom / Rainbow Loom will love the natural looming.

Despite the rain, we had an excellent time on Saturday morning at forest school. Check out the stars we made (with sheer lashing) as well as the elf houses.

The wild orchids are flowering at Horsell Common. Looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.
