in 2008, by Kathryn Travis (RAD RTS, AISTD) an experienced professional artiste and teacher, The Travis Academy of Performing Arts (T.A.P.A) is one of Chester’s leading part time schools’ for dance and musical theatre. The school offers expert tuition in all aspects of the performing arts. There are a variety of classes available for children from 3 to 18 years: Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, Jazz &
Lyrical, Contemporary and Commercial dance, Musical Theatre, Drama, Acting and Singing. Vocational training and adult classes are also available. Pupils are prepared for Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) examinations and there are regular opportunities for pupils to take part in shows, recitals, scholarships and special events. Pupils who have attended the school have gone on to train at full time vocational schools and colleges such as The Royal Ballet School, Hammond School, Elmhurst Ballet School and Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and have successfully auditioned for prestigious youth companies including: English Youth Ballet, Regional Youth Ballet, Stage Experience, National Youth Music Theatre and Centre for Advanced Training Scheme (CAT). Our facilities at T.A.P.A are ideal for dance and theatre training: sprung dance floor, fitted mirrors and barres, changing rooms and a stage. T.A.P.A welcomes students of all abilities and aspirations. Whether taking classes for recreation or in preparation for full time vocational training, each pupil is given the opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe and professional environment.
