SIXTH FORM. IN THEIR WORDS.

Every student’s Sixth Form experience is different. So, rather than telling you what we think makes Abbey Gate special, we asked our students.

Here’s what they had to say.

Thinking about your next steps? If you’re looking at Sixth Form options and considering doing things differently, get in touch.

We’d be very happy to have a conversation and offer guidance.

Success that’s personal. 🎓

Today, we’re celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results at Abbey Gate College, with almost 40% of grades awarded at 9–7 – our strongest performance at these top grades in a decade.

But behind every grade is an individual story.

From students who have been with us throughout their Senior School journey, to those who joined us later – including students who came to Abbey Gate from overseas – this year group has achieved some truly remarkable results.

With outstanding individual performances, 100% of HPQ students achieving A* and 100% of Further Mathematics grades at 7 or above, there is plenty to celebrate. Most importantly, these results reflect the progress, confidence and personal achievement of our students.

We’re incredibly proud of every one of them. Whatever comes next, we hope they continue to Go Boldly – embracing new opportunities, challenging themselves and making the most of every step of their journey.

We asked them to tell us in their own words - and we’re sharing some of their responses.

Honouring the past, shaping the future.

Work is well underway on the transformation of our General Science laboratory, creating a modern, purpose-designed space for practical learning.

Made possible through the generosity of our community via the Founders’ Fund, this exciting project is the first of several developments planned across the College – including two new play areas at our Infant and Junior School and a unique Film Studio at Saighton Grange.

The redevelopment also brings a special connection to our history, with former Head of Science and College Trustee Roger Slater advising on the project. Roger was instrumental in the development of the original Science Block, officially opened by the Duke of Westminster in 1980.

From the foundations of the past to the learning spaces of the future, we’re investing in the places where our pupils learn, discover and grow.

Success That’s Personal 🎓

Today, we’re celebrating our Sixth Form students and the brilliant results they have achieved - but, as ever, there is much more to their success than the grades on a results sheet.

From proud smiles and emotional reunions to celebrations with friends, families and staff, Results Day has been a wonderful reminder of the community that sits at the heart of Abbey Gate College.

We’re incredibly proud of this year’s cohort: of their progress, their contribution to College life and, most importantly, the ambitions they are now taking forward.

From university and specialist training to employment, apprenticeships and pursuing individual passions, every student is beginning their next chapter in their own way.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. We can’t wait to see where you go boldly next.

A musical exchange in Eswatini 🎶

Some of our favourite moments from our Eswatini expedition came through music, movement and a fair bit of laughter!

Our students shared a wonderful creative exchange with the pupils of Mlindzini Primary School. The younger pupils became the teachers, showing our students one of their local dances - with plenty of concentration required from our team!

Some of our students shared Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles, accompanied by British Sign Language, before the cultural exchange took a slightly unexpected turn… as the Macarena made its way to Mlindzini! We’re still questioning quite how that became part of the programme. 😂

These moments capture what partnership is all about: learning from one another, sharing what we know and finding common ground through music, movement and plenty of fun.

A huge thank you to the Mlindzini community for the privilege of hosting our students and for sharing your culture, warmth and joy with us. 🇸🇿
