This afternoon, the children did autumn painting using carved fruit and vegetables as stamps, including apples ๐, pears ๐ and carrots ๐ฅ. They discussed the size and shape of each and predicted the marks they would make.
The children experimented with colour mixing ๐จ, suggesting combinations to make new colours such as orange ๐งก, purple ๐ and brown ๐ค. This hands-on exploration built their understanding of colour and encouraged descriptive language about their colours and patterns.
Afterwards, the children talked about the shapes ๐ต๐บ and patterns they had printed, then went on an autumn hunt in the garden ๐๐ฟ, noticing changes in colour, texture, shape and size. This developed their observational skills, vocabulary and understanding of the world.
