Abbey Gate College Sports

Congratulations to the Y8 Abbey Gate College Rounders Team on an outstanding performance at the District Competition, where they finished as runners-up after a closely contested tournament.

The team demonstrated excellent skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the day, winning a series of challenging matches to reach the final. In a thrilling and hard-fought contest, they narrowly missed out on the title, losing by just one rounder!!

Despite the disappointment of falling just short, the players should be extremely proud of their achievement. It was noted by other staff from competing schools how strong our fielding was!

Well done to all involved on a fantastic accomplishment and for representing the college so positively.

We are looking forward to an exciting day at the ISA National Track and Field Finals in Birmingham, held at the renowned Alexander Stadium. This prestigious event brings together some of the best young athletes from across the country, all of whom have qualified through their regional competitions.

We are incredibly proud that 11 of our pupils have qualified for this national event. Reaching the finals is a fantastic achievement in itself and reflects the hard work, commitment, and determination shown by each athlete throughout the season.

The pupils will have the opportunity to compete against the highest standard of competition while representing the College and the North with pride. We wish all 11 athletes the very best and look forward to seeing how they perform in their events!

A fantastic afternoon of U13 Chester and District Girls’ paired cricket at AGC, with the girls playing brilliantly throughout and showing great sportsmanship in the true spirit of the game.

After some excellent performances, the team finished an impressive 3rd place in the tournament. A special mention goes to Ella B, who was our nominated Girl of the Tournament after showcasing some outstanding bowling across the afternoon.

Well done to all the girls on a superb effort and for representing AGC so brilliantly! 🏏👏

Huge congrats to Y7 pupil Tristan L, he became County Champion this weekend when he won gold at the county championships, under 14's 100m sprint.

A brilliant evening for our Y7 & Y8 boys’ and girls’ tennis teams in their first match of the season against 🎾

Lots of matches played, plenty of great rallies, and all competed in an excellent spirit throughout. A fun evening and a fantastic start to the season - well done everyone! 👏

On Tuesday we went to the ISA North Athletics held at Manchester Athletics Stadium.

The event saw a number of outstanding performances, with pupils achieving success in sprinting, relays, hurdles and field events. Several students secured top finishes in their races and competitions, while others achieved personal bests after weeks of hard work and training. Team performances were equally impressive, with many age groups finishing strongly against tough competition from schools across the region.

Overall, it was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved and a memorable day of athletics in Manchester. The pupils should be extremely proud of their efforts and the way they represented their school.
