Three years ago today, Ciara passed away.

She was the daughter of close family friends. We'd already decided to fundraise for Reverse Rett that spring, and had spoken to Ciara's family about it before she passed on 6 October. We kept going as planned that year, raising for Reverse Rett in her memory.

One of her favourite songs, from Frozen, has had a place in our playlist every Christmas since, and it always will.

Reverse Rett funds the research working toward real treatments for Rett syndrome — gene therapy trials are further along than they've ever been, with more now moving toward the clinic. In 2023, School Lane Lights raised £2,131.07 for them.

Ciara's dad Neil is training for a marathon next year, still raising money for Reverse Rett, still carrying this forward. Follow him on Instagram at for updates - his JustGiving link is on his profile.

📚 IT'S OPEN! 🎉

On World Book Day, Guilden Sutton Primary School officially opened their brand new Reading Cabin and we were honoured to be part of the celebration!

What an incredible community effort this has been - from our Christmas lights fundraising to all the parents, staff, trustees, and volunteers who contributed their time, skills, and creativity to turn an empty cabin into a magical reading space.

Seeing the children's faces light up as they explored their new book haven made it all worthwhile! This is what happens when a community comes together for a great cause. 💙

Thank you to everyone who made this possible - every single contribution, big or small, has helped create something that will inspire young readers for years to come! 📖✨

✨ That’s officially a wrap!🎄

Final total is in: £664.89 raised for Guilden Sutton Church of England Primary School’s reading cabin! 📚💙

Over 900 button presses, more than 37 hours of music, and the most generous community we could ask for.

The lights are down, we’re making our list of repairs and improvements (and a cheeky shopping list for new bits!), and already looking forward to next year!

Massive thanks to Guilden Sutton Village, Chester Grosvenor 76 Round Table and all the community pages who shared, and every single household who made our village sparkle this Christmas. 🎅✨

We’ve counted up all the donations (including some lovely last-minute ones!) and have shared the total with Guilden Sutton Primary School today - we can’t wait to see what they can do with the reading cabin!

Last night was our final evening of the Christmas lights for another year, and we just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who visited, pressed the button, donated, and supported our fundraiser for Guilden Sutton Church of England Primary School! 💙

Just 3 days left until our lights go off on Monday, and we wanted to say a massive thank you to all the other households in Guilden Sutton Village who’ve decorated for Christmas this year!

You’ve all made our village look absolutely incredible. Can’t wait to see which of your houses wins the Parish Council’s Christmas Light Competition! 🏆
