A Call for Real Inclusion – No More Lost Potential

📢 Too many young people, including those as young as 5, are being permanently excluded from school. Many have SEND, and their needs are simply not being met.

As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand how exclusion can damage confidence, aspirations, and life chances. Schools often rely on expensive alternative provisions, but what really matters is:

✅ Is the provision of high quality?
✅ Does it provide meaningful, engaging learning experiences?
✅ Is there a clear pathway for reintegration or progression?

💡 Education should ignite curiosity and ambition—not push children out of the system. We need a national commitment to ensuring that alternative provision is not a forgotten corner of education but a place of excellence, innovation, and opportunity.

Let’s stop seeing AP as a last resort and start seeing it as a powerful intervention that works with the child, not just around them.

📢 How can we ensure that every child, no matter their challenges, has access to education that inspires them to learn and thrive?
