A brilliant weekend for our Year 11 Silver DofE teams, with blue skies, fantastic views and some very accurate navigation along the way. 🥾⛺️

After a full first day, all teams made it into camp by 4.30pm, pitched their tents and enjoyed a hot meal — with the added bonus of a hot air balloon taking off nearby.

Day 2 brought another long route, but everyone was into camp by 4pm and still in great spirits, finishing the day with a beautiful sunset.

A fantastic effort from all involved and a really successful Silver expedition. Well done! 👏

Dr. Ashley Hickson-Lovence - an award-winning novelist, poet, literary critic and lecturer in Creative Writing - made a visit to Christleton High School on Tuesday 29th September to speak to an audience of our Year 9 students. He quickly captivated the crowd by sharing the harrowing story of how the death of a childhood friend inspired him to write Wild East, his first novel for young adults. He spoke about his other career experiences as a football referee and a bus driver, as well as sharing his many rejection letters and encouraging aspiring writers to not give up if their work is not immediately accepted for publication. Following his talk, Ashley answered audience questions and signed copies of his book before heading over to the performing arts department to lead a creative writing workshop with a lucky group of handpicked students.
