We are pleased to share that we have recently welcomed a new member of staff to our nursery team. Mark is fully qualified, holds a degree in childcare, and brings with him many years of experience working with young children. We are confident he will be a valuable addition to our experienced and dedicated team.

What an exciting and busy week we’ve had across the whole nursery! 🎉🥞❤️🐉

We’ve been celebrating Pancake Day, Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year, with lots of wonderful activities happening throughout every room.

The children thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in pancake fun – talking about ingredients, practising their mixing skills and, of course, tasting their delicious treats! For Valentine’s Day, we explored kindness, friendship and caring for one another through creative activities and thoughtful discussions.

Our Chinese New Year celebrations were a real highlight. The children learned about different traditions and cultures, took part in themed crafts and activities, and a firm favourite across the nursery was definitely the Chinese food tasting! It was lovely to see so many children trying new flavours and talking about their likes and dislikes.

We finished the week with a very special CHUF fundraising day. CHUF is a charity close to our hearts, helping to raise awareness and provide extra funding for the Children’s Heart Unit. We are incredibly proud to support such an important cause and are so grateful to our families for their kindness and generosity.

How fortunate we are to have such amazing outdoor spaces and the wonderful opportunities they give us to play, explore and learn together 🌿✨

Today our Preschool children have been busy helping to carry lots of crates to their new home. These were very kindly donated by Lowther Dairies and we are so grateful for their generosity — thank you!

The children loved building with the crates, matching the colours and carefully walking along them to test their balance. They had great fun collecting leaves, throwing them high into the air and watching them gently fall back down. There were plenty of opportunities to practise balancing skills along the tree trunks, climbing up the slopes and carefully making their way over the fences.

The bikes and scooters were very popular, and we even had some exciting races with the hobby horses! 🐎

We finished off our outdoor fun with some gentle cuddles and strokes for Toffee our guinea pig, enjoying some calm and caring time together. 🐹💛

EYFS Links:
• Physical Development – developing balance, coordination and gross motor skills through climbing, riding and balancing.
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development – turn taking, teamwork, caring for animals and building confidence.
• Communication and Language – sharing ideas during building play and talking about what we observed in nature.
• Understanding the World – exploring the natural environment and noticing seasonal changes.
• Expressive Arts and Design – creative construction and imaginative play with hobby horses.

A wonderful day full of fresh air, teamwork and smiles 😊

🌿🐝 Busy Bees Forest School Fun! 🐝🌿

This week our Busy Bees children have thoroughly enjoyed their Forest School sessions with Michelle. Being outdoors brings so many wonderful opportunities for learning and exploration — and this week has been full of it!

We shared a lovely story outside all about caring for others, which sparked some thoughtful conversations about kindness, helping our friends and looking after nature around us. 💛

The children have been busy exploring coloured water, carefully mixing and pouring to create their own magical potions — there were lots of imaginative ideas and wonderful language used as they described what they were making! 🧪🌈

They also decorated beautiful wicker hearts using natural resources such as leaves and petals, showing great creativity and care in their designs. 🍃🌸l

✨ EYFS Links:

Birthday Celebrations This Weekend! 🎉

We have two very special birthdays to celebrate!

Firstly, a huge Happy 18th Birthday to Luke! 🥳
Luke has been part of our nursery family since he was just 15 and has grown into such a reliable and hardworking young man. He helps out in the kitchen at the end of the day and is always willing to lend a hand. We’re so proud of the commitment he’s shown over the years — we hope you have the best 18th celebration, Luke! 🎂🎈

And it’s also a very Happy Birthday to Sara from Busy Bees! 🐝💛
Sara brings so much joy and fun to her room every single day. Her laughter is infectious and the children absolutely adore her. They’ve had great fun trying to guess how old she is… with guesses ranging from 10 to 86! 😂

We hope you both have a wonderful birthday filled with happiness and cake! 🎁🎊

Butterflies children have had a super week with Michelle taking part in Stick Man week. Their week began with all the children sitting around the ‘camp fire’ listening to the story. They then walked around the nature trail collecting lots of sticks and created a wonderful stick man. They have all had fun creating their own stick man and using different media to decorate them.
Lots of fun all round 😊

Winter Forest School Fun

Ladybirds children have had a busy and exciting winter week in Forest School with Michelle. They enjoyed exploring ice by building structures, investigating frozen gloop, and playing with shaving foam.

These hands-on activities supported lots of communication, curiosity, and exploration, with children discovering different shapes, textures, and changes through sensory play. A lovely week of winter learning outdoors

The children at Dragonflies have been absolutely fascinated by their new classroom “pets” — ‘Dua Leafa’ the leaf insect and ‘Stick Jagger’ the Vietnamese stick insect 🦗🌿

They have loved carefully getting them out and spending time closely observing them, noticing their shapes, colours and gentle movements. Through this hands-on experience, the children have been learning all about their natural habitats, what they need to stay healthy, and how to care for living creatures with kindness and respect.

It’s been a wonderful opportunity to develop curiosity, responsibility and a real love of the natural world 🌍💚

As we welcome in the New Year, we would like to wish all our parents, carers, children and staff a very happy, healthy New Year.

We know that for many families this time of year can bring mixed emotions. Everyone faces their own challenges and struggles, often unseen, and it’s important to remember to be kind to one another.

As a nursery, we are proud to care not only for our children but to support our families too. We value the trust you place in us and remain committed to offering a safe, caring and nurturing environment for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to the year ahead, sharing many more moments of learning, laughter and fun!!!

✨ Staff Christmas Night Out ✨

What a lovely evening celebrating Christmas together as a team. Our staff Christmas night was a perfect opportunity to relax, laugh and enjoy each other’s company.

A huge thank you to Richy the Cocktail Man for creating the most delicious cocktails, and to the wonderful ‘Cookie Fairy’ Jenny for guiding us through chocolate making and cookie decorating — some creations were more successful than others… but all made with plenty of laughter! 🎄🍪🍸

A fantastic night spent together, reminding us what a supportive and fun team we are. 💖
