Sorry our page has been super quiet we have been super busy with our tutees whilst myself and Charlotte have returned to teaching!

Hello, everyone!

We hope everyone is looking forward to Christmas and the New Year!
Behind the scenes we are working on some exciting changes for Home from Home Tuition.
As well as the wonderful Chloe returning from her maternity leave - meaning more slots will be available for new and existing clients - we will be introducing a range of accessible resources for those with busy schedules or those who are looking for some more independent support.

Don't forget that we cover all Primary subjects, 11+, and KS3&4 English.

As someone who suffered A LOT with my mental health, in primary and secondary school, I believe that this could have helped me be more resiliant and pro-active.

There were some days when all I wanted to do was learn from bed. Now I'm the first person to admit that hiding in bed will not help tackle mental health, however, one has to choose the battles they face. Some days it was a challenge to brush my teeth, check my phone, open my eyes... so if I had acheived these things, staying in bed sometimes felt like the only option.

If you know me well, you will know that I am passionate about education, so know this isn't me encouraging "bunking" off school- this is me voicing and encouraging small changes that would have helped me massively!

The last year has highlighted that full-time attendance at school may not be suitable for every child, and that there are alternative ways of educating children. Blended/online learning has been successful for many children that were being failed by the education system.

*11 Plus: Summer Holiday Intense Course*

Home From Home Tuition will be running TWO 5-day courses in the summer holidays. These will run during the following weeks:

August 2nd - August 6th
&
August 23rd - August 27th

We hope to host both courses in person, however, this will depend on the Government guidelines.

Who can attend?

This course is suitable for Year 4s and 5s.

Children can attend both weeks, but please note that the same content will be covered in both weeks.

Children can also attend specific days, if there are particular days that appeal more than others.

💙 CALLING ALL TEACHERS & HOME EDUCATING PARENTS 💙

Every Friday for the next 7 weeks we'll be delivering FREE live lessons from our Aquarium via YouTube!

Each week there will be two sessions;

🦈🔬 The first 'Deep Science' (1:00pm to 1:20pm) will see our schools team using aquarium exhibits and our AquaLab to explore the science behind the animated ocean exploration tv series ‘The Deep’ (CBBC on weekdays during lockdown). Expect fascinating facts and real time experiments, as well as ideas to follow up with at home!

🧜‍♀️📖 The second will be ‘Mermaid Tales’, which will air from 1:30 – 1:45pm and will involve a short story narrated by our resident mermaid, Marina - perfect timing before an afternoon nap, or as a gentle, relaxing start to the afternoon.

BBC TV EDUCATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Starting on Monday 11 January, each week day on CBBC will see a three-hour block of primary school programming from 9am, including BBC Live Lessons and BBC Bitesize Daily, as well as other educational programming such as Our School and Celebrity Supply Teacher and much loved titles such as Horrible Histories, Art Ninja and Operation Ouch.

BBC Two will cater for secondary students with programming to support the GCSE curriculum, with a least two hours of content each weekday.

You can always RECORD the episodes to view at a later date/time.
