We had a fantastic Sports Afternoon to round off a very busy week and lucky for us the weather held out! Thank you to everyone who came to watch and cheer us on and a HUGE thank you to the PTA for providing the ice-lollies at the end!😍

On Wednesday, our school proudly took part in celebrating Earth Day, a global event held each year to raise awareness about protecting our planet and encouraging sustainable practices. Throughout the day, the children engaged in meaningful activities, including making personal pledges about how they can help care for the environment. They learned about the impact of single-use plastics and discussed how climate change is leading to some people around the world becoming climate migrants. To end the day on a positive and active note, the children enjoyed a fun nature scavenger hunt around the school grounds, helping them connect with and appreciate the environment first hand.

3M performed their assembly about the Ancient Egyptian civilisation. The children shared lots of facts about the Ancient Egyptians and demonstrated how to make a mummy! Did you know? The pyramids were build such a long time ago that Cleopatra's reign is closer to the moon landing than when the pyramids were built? We are so proud of the children for their hard work learning their lines and performing them so confidently. Well done 3M!

Year 4 children took part in a fantastic Mexicolore workshop, where they were fully immersed in the fascinating world of the Maya civilisation. The children explored a range of authentic artefacts, including musical instruments, and even learned to chant in the Maya language. They had great fun dressing up and discovering what Maya clothing and culture looked like, bringing history vividly to life. The workshop also included an engaging discussion about the importance of chocolate in Maya society. It was a brilliant experience—both fun and educational—and the children came away having learned so much!

Our tag rugby season came to an end this week with a trip to Amersham & Chiltern RUFC. The team had 8 games to play in one afternoon due to having to cancel lots of matches in February!

Our results left us on 5 wins and 3 losses, leaving us in 4th place overall. The team gave it their best shot in the 3rd/4th playoff match, but unfortunately lost to Ley Hill. A brilliant 4th place finish after a very tiring afternoon! The player's player of the season was Oliver for his amazing stamina and team play. Go team Brushwood!💙
