Yes, I know... it's another post about the weather ☀️🥵

But as I sit in the office slowly questioning all of my life choices and wondering if my laptop is about to overheat before I do...

I have to ask:

How is everyone coping at work without air conditioning today? 😅
Are you:

🧊 Refilling the water bottle every 10 minutes?
❄️ Sitting directly in front of a fan?
☕ Swapping your usual brew for an iced coffee?
💻 Pretending you're productive while secretly just trying not to melt?

As uncomfortable as it is in the office, it also makes me think about all the incredible childcare and Early Years professionals who are on their feet all day, keeping children safe, happy, entertained and cool in these temperatures. That's a whole different level of commitment.

To everyone working today, whether you're in an office, a nursery, a preschool, a classroom or out and about... how are you surviving the heat?

Share your best tips below (and if anyone has discovered a portable Arctic climate system, I'm all ears). 😂

Public Service Announcement 🚨

Sorry I’ve been so rubbish on here lately... June has been a MONTH. 😅

Having my 3 children’s birthdays within 12 days has wiped me out! Throw their dad’s birthday in between all of that unorganised chaos too and over whelmed doesn’t cover it 🫪.
Between cakes, candles, present wrapping and trying to remember what day it is, social media has very much taken a back seat!

But I’m back, and looking forward to catching up with everyone and seeing what you've all been up to. ✨

First off…. how is everyone coping with this week's heat? ☀️

Nurseries and schools, which camp are you in?

🧊 Water play all day, every day

🌳 Hiding in the shade and refusing to move

🍦 Bribing everyone with ice lollies

💦 Mysteriously finding reasons to turn the hose on

📚 Carrying on as normal while slowly melting

Or is there another secret strategy we need to know about? 👀

☀️ Keeping Babies Safe in the Heat ☀️

Hot weather can be dangerous for little ones because babies overheat much faster than adults. Here are some simple ways to keep them safe and comfortable:

👶 Keep babies in the shade as much as possible
💧 Offer regular feeds — breastmilk or formula keeps them hydrated
🧢 Dress them in light, loose cotton clothing and a sun hat
🌡️ Keep rooms cool with fans, curtains closed, or cooler evening air
🚫 Never leave a baby in a parked car — even for a minute
🛏️ Check they aren’t too hot while sleeping (feel their chest or back, not hands/feet)
☀️ Avoid direct sun, especially between 11am–3pm
🧴 For babies over 6 months, use baby-safe sunscreen on exposed skin

Signs a baby may be overheating:
• Flushed skin
• Fast breathing
• Unusual sleepiness or irritability
• Fewer wet nappies

If you’re worried your baby is unwell from the heat, seek medical advice promptly.

🌼 Happy Friday everyone! 🌼

As we head into the May half term and the upcoming Spring Bank Holiday, we’d like to wish all of our schools a lovely break and a well-deserved rest.

For our nursery settings, we know many of you will still be open and continuing the amazing work you do supporting children and families during the holiday period — thank you for everything you do.

We hope everyone still manages to enjoy some time outdoors, make special memories, and that the sun decides to pay us a visit too! ☀️

Mental Health Awareness Week 🤍

A gentle reminder that resting is productive, asking for help is brave, and you don’t have to carry everything alone. Be kind to yourself and check in on the people you love. Sometimes a simple “how are you really doing?” can mean everything.
