Our babies have enjoyed a range of exploratory play experiences. Using our ball pit, we sung the colours of the rainbow and tried to find all the different colours, beginning to develop their concept thinking. They enjoyed throwing the balls around the room, and then even helped put the balls back into the ball pit.

The children explored using green and purple paint, and watching the marks we made with acorns. This is developing their gross motor skills and hand eye coordination.

There is sand and water play available at nursery, which the children love. This develops their schema play and critical thinking.

Preschool have been very busy! We started with wake up shake up in the garden, a physical movement activity to start the day. Then we made a beautiful nature wands from natural resources. It’s been great to watch how children’s fine skills are developing and their hand eye coordination is getting better.

Preschool explored the exciting world of zoo animals! The children got creative with their art activities, using their hands, arms, and fingers to make fantastic crafts like tigers, monkeys, lions, flamingos, turtles and giraffes. We also set up a tuff tray that looked like a zoo, filled with tactile treasures such as pine cones, Weetabix, and soil for them to discover.

Our baby room have been learning about food, exploratory and pretend play. We made some different coloured playdough and pretended it was food for us and the toys in the room.

We made red for strawberries, apples and tomatoes. We made blue/green for blackberries and blueberries. We made purple for grapes, aubergine, plums.

We mould the playdough into little balls and squished it between our fingers, we stretch it out into stringy food, we rolled it and mix the colours together to see what we could make, using words ‘stretch’ ‘roll’ ‘mix’.

We supported pretend play, by feeding the unicorn and toy babies their lunch. And we spoke about what we could be having from our lunch today. We practised some single words ‘pasta’ and ‘rice’.

We said goodbye to our butterflies. The children decided to call them Mini, Spidey, Bluey, Louie, Stacy. We watched butterflies pick up the courage and fly into the air. Children learned about the life cycle of butterflies, and what they eat. Children also had butterflies painted on their faces.

Our preschool made a wind chimer from beads and children showed great fine motor skills as well as concentration threading the beads onto string. We also made a bug hotel from natural materials that had been collected. Children took turns well and talked about the different mini beasts that may visit the hotel!
