🎀 I’m incredibly proud of our Chepstow Taekwon-do community this October. 🎀

What started as a simple idea from some of our adult students has turned into something really special. Together, we’ve been supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month and have raised an amazing £250 for CoppaFeel! ❤️

Students have been invited to purchase a special pink Taekwon-do belt for just £1.15, with the rest of their contribution going towards charity. They can then proudly wear their pink belts throughout October, turning our classes pink and helping us keep an important conversation going.

One of the things I’ve loved most is seeing how many questions this has already sparked from our younger students about cancer and why awareness is so important. It’s opened up some really valuable conversations and shown that fundraising can be about so much more than simply collecting money.

The idea came from the adults in our school, who wanted to do something together for such an important cause. I was only too happy to support them, and I’m genuinely proud of everyone who has got involved.

Breast cancer awareness is incredibly important and, sadly, something that many of us have experience with. By raising money for CoppaFeel!, we’re helping them continue the fantastic work they do while bringing a little more awareness to the subject within our own community.

A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part, donated and helped make this happen. 💗

🥋 AN EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT FOR MR OLIVER HUGHES 🥋

Chepstow Taekwon-do is extremely proud to announce that Mr Oliver Hughes has successfully graded to 1st Degree Black Belt and is a World Cup Bronze Medalist. 🥉

Mr Hughes has displayed a tremendous work ethic, determination and commitment throughout what has been an incredibly demanding year for him in preparation.

Despite suffering a significant hip injury and knowing that he required surgery, Oliver refused to let it stand in the way of his goals.

First came his 1st Degree Black Belt Grading and Spirit Test.

Despite his injury, Oliver gave 110%, pushing himself to the absolute limit. By the end of the Spirit Test, he had physically nothing left — to the point that he struggled to climb the stairs back to the hall.

Having successfully achieved his 1st Degree Black Belt, Oliver then delayed his hip surgery so that he could compete at the ITF World Cup in Benidorm.

That decision was rewarded with an outstanding Bronze Medal in Sparring. 🥉

Immediately after returning home, Oliver went into the operating theatre and underwent the hip surgery he had postponed in order to compete.

He is now on the road to recovery.

1st Degree Black Belt.
World Cup Bronze Medalist.
Hip surgery.
Recovery.

The achievements speak for themselves, but it is the work ethic, perseverance and indomitable spirit behind them that deserve the greatest recognition.

Everyone at Chepstow Taekwon-do would like to congratulate Mr Oliver Hughes on an exceptional set of achievements and wish him a successful recovery.

A truly remarkable demonstration of commitment to Taekwon-do. 🥋👏

Mr Hughes makes weight for the ITF World Cup 2026 in Benidorm, Spain. Fighting for the P.U.M.A. England Team at -70kg, weighing in at 69.2kg (Training in a Jumper and Thermals and shaving your head paid off 🤣🤣) !

Mr Hughes is Sparring on Wednesday and competing in Patterns on Friday!
