🌟 What an AMAZING first day for our new
Year 7 students at Chepstow School! 🌟

Today we were delighted to welcome our newest members of our Chepstow School community. Students enjoyed a Welcome Assembly, met their Form Tutors, explored the school, and took part in their first lessons.

We have been incredibly impressed by this fantastic group of young people. They looked immaculate in their new uniforms, showed kindness and respect towards one another, and have already started making lots of new friendships.

Well done, Year 7, on such a brilliant start to your Chepstow School journey. We can't wait to do it all again tomorrow! 😊

Four Years of Excellence: Chepstow School Continues to Outperform National GCSE Averages

Chepstow School is celebrating another year of exceptional GCSE outcomes, with Year 11 students continuing the school's remarkable track record of achievement. Student performance once again exceeded national averages, reflecting the school's unwavering commitment to excellence and high aspirations for all learners.

Outstanding outcomes were achieved across the core subjects, with 89% of students attaining grade C or above in English, 84% in Mathematics and 83% in Science. In addition, more than 82% of learners achieved at least five GCSEs at grades A*-C, including both English and Mathematics, highlighting the breadth and consistency of achievement across the year group.

An impressive 40% of all grades were awarded at A* and A, more than double the national average of 19.6%. These outstanding results continue a sustained pattern of success, with Chepstow School outperforming national averages over the past four years and demonstrating the dedication, resilience and ambition of both students and staff.

At Chepstow School, academic excellence goes hand in hand with inclusion. The school's commitment to ensuring every learner can thrive is reflected in the achievements of its most disadvantaged students, with 80% attaining at least five qualifications at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics. These outcomes represent more than examination success; they reflect the determination of young people who have overcome a range of challenges, including joining the school late in their educational journey, adapting to a new country and language, and navigating personal challenge and circumstances with resilience and determination.

Some of the most inspiring achievements came from students such as Ollie Adafemi, Julia Byrne Azzarelli, Yegor Briazkalo and Frayser Bennett who have demonstrated remarkable perseverance and commitment, achieving an extraordinary 42 qualifications at grade C or above, including 18 grades at A* to A. Their success exemplifies the inclusive ethos of Chepstow School, where inspiring learning for all for life and where every learner is encouraged and supported to fulfil their potential.

Twenty per cent of students achieved more than 10 A*/A grades across a broad range of subjects. Among some of the school's highest-performing students were Bea Brazier, Luke Butcher, Dylan Davies, Leo Durman, Toby Edwards, Bethan Henley, Megan Hipkiss, Isla Jessop, Indigo Kaslik, Cady Lawrence-Adams, Sophie Plowman, Julia Puszkar and Daisy Speed. Particularly notable were the achievements of Charlotte Chesson, Lauren Denne, Phoebe Gilbert, Tomos McAllister, Ben O'Donnell, George Siddell and Cally Sinclair, who secured an outstanding 13 and even 14 A*A grades.

Today Chepstow School is also celebrating the success of our Year 10 students, who received GCSE unit results in a range of subjects as part of the new Curriculum for Wales pathways. Their positivity, resilience and commitment have been rewarded with excellent outcomes, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue their journey into Year 11. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated staff, whose expertise and innovation have ensured that our students were exceptionally well prepared for this new curriculum and assessment model. Da iawn to all involved.

Headteacher, Kelly Waythe, said: β€˜I am incredibly proud of every student receiving their results today. Their achievements reflect the hard work, resilience and ambition that make Chepstow School such a special community. My thanks also go to our staff, families and governors whose incredible support helps our young people thrive.’

β€˜On behalf of the Governing Body, I warmly congratulate all our students on their GCSE results today. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication and resilience. I would also like to thank our Leadership Team, teachers and support staff for their outstanding commitment and unwavering support, which has once again helped our students to achieve and shine.
