Wishing Coralie the very best time over the next few days at the Elmhurst Summer Intensive course.
Coralie was successful in gaining a selective and much sought after, residential summer school place and will find out what it’s like to be a full time student at Elmhurst Ballet School. Tonight is her first night and it sounds like she’s settled in well and has already made new friends with students from Spain and Italy. What an exciting opportunity. I can’t wait to hear all about it 🥰

What if one of the best things you could do for yourself after 40… was DANCE? 💃

Not because you need to perform.

Not because you need to be “good at it.”

And definitely not because you need to look like you did at 20.

But because dancing gives your brain AND body something pretty incredible to do together.

The benefits of dance, especially as we get older, are BIG:

🧠 Challenges your brain by asking it to remember patterns, rhythms, directions and sequences

⚖️ Works your balance and stability every time you shift your weight from one foot to the other

💪 Builds strength through functional movement using your own body

🦴 Provides weight-bearing movement that gets you up on your feet and moving

❤️ Gets your heart rate up without movement having to feel like a traditional workout

👣 Improves coordination as your brain learns to tell different parts of your body what to do at the same time

⚡ Challenges reaction time as you listen, respond and move

🧩 Creates new movement patterns instead of doing the same repetitive motions over and over

🎵 Works rhythm and musicality, giving your brain another layer to process while you move

🦵 Strengthens your legs, ankles and feet through weight shifts, rises, steps and directional changes

🧍‍♀️ Encourages better body awareness because you start noticing where your weight is, how you’re standing and how you’re moving

🔄 Supports mobility and range of motion by moving your body in different directions and patterns

❤️ Builds endurance as you continue dancing longer and learning more

🧠 Exercises memory every time you learn a new step or remember choreography

✨ Builds confidence through proof. You try something you couldn’t do before…and then one day, you CAN.

🙌 Keeps you learning. There is always another step, rhythm, combination or variation to explore.

🎨 Encourages creativity and self-expression instead of asking you to simply copy and repeat

😂 Invites play back into your life. Something I think adults could use a whole lot more of.

🥰 Creates connection when you dance alongside other people learning and growing too

🌎 Can create community with people of different ages, backgrounds and experience levels

💗 Gives you something to look forward to

🔥 Reminds you that your body is capable of learning new things

🎶 Lets movement feel like JOY instead of another thing you “should” be doing

And maybe my favorite benefit of all…

Dance gives us permission to keep becoming.

You do NOT have to already be a dancer.

You don’t need the perfect body.
You don’t need great coordination.
You don’t need tap shoes.
You don’t need to be flexible.
And there is absolutely no age when you’ve “missed your chance.”

You can begin exactly where your feet are today.

👣 Comment BEGINNER and I’ll send you my FREE Beginner’s Guide to Tap Dance so you can take your first steps at home.

💃 Comment DTL if you’d like to join our FREE Dance Through Life Facebook community, where we’re moving, learning and building confidence together.

Because getting older doesn’t mean we stop learning new steps.

Maybe it means we finally get to dance them our way. ❤️

Huge congratulations to Addi, Chloe, Elenid, Hope, Seya and Sylvie for being accepted as Ballet Boost Junior Associates for this September 👏 👏👏

Six applied and six accepted, really couldn’t be prouder of that ☺️ Massive well done girls for all the work you put in both in and out of class to prepare for this and also big thank you to Miss Hannah for her assistance too.

I hope you love your sessions as much as all our other Ballet Boost Associates do.

The girls join, Chloe, Maddie, Himaya, Izzy, Ros, Rebecca, Coralie, Freya and Kara as BB Associates this year. This means we have 15 in total now on what is an incredible programme, with great feedback from the tutors too.

Proud teacher 🥰
