The University of Gloucestershire Equestrian Club is one of the most fun loving and friendliest clubs around! We welcome riders of all abilities from those who have never even met a horse but are keen to get in the saddle, to competitive and experienced riders! We also welcome non-riding social members who just want to be apart of a club during their uni experience! We have two competitive teams that compete in the BUCS leagues (you don't need your own horse!) as well as two teams that compete in friendly competitions. We are fortunate enough to have ride at Mill Farm Stables, roughly a 20 minute car journey from Cheltenham. We hold regular lessons for riders of all abilities as well as hacks out into the beautiful Cotswold countryside. Away from the horses, we are a very sociable bunch of misfits! Every Wednesday we meet for our weekly socials at Revolution and we run extra socials, such as movie nights, trips to the races or other fun days out! Pop us a message if you have any questions or check out our website for more information :)

So get excited for the coming year ... it's going to be a big one! :D

✨ a day in the life of our BUCS teams on comp day ✨

Competition days begin early, but with the added bonus of not having to groom load and travel horses! Everyone makes their way to the venue together ready for the day ahead, with mads ♡ at the wheel and DJ megs on the aux.

Once there, we draw our horses at random, watch the demo rides and then start warming up for dressage!

After a break for lunch it’s onto jumping. Whilst the scores are calculated from both phases, we take the time to talk with the other teams - one of the best parts of the day!

Then we have prize giving and team pictures, always having a 0.5 pic with our rosettes!

From warming up and riding our rounds to supporting our teammates, every part of the day is an important part of the BUCS experience. There is always plenty of encouragement, teamwork and, of course, a little bit of pre- and post-round analysis! 🏇🏼

Whether we leave with a win, a personal achievement or simply valuable competition experience, we are proud to represent the University of Gloucestershire and our equestrian club.

A busy, exciting and rewarding day made even better as a team. 🤎

Varsity 2026! 💙
-
On Tuesday, our girls took on Worcester for Varsity and it was such an amazing day! They rode brilliantly, having an overall score that won us the dressage. Though an unlucky pole in showjumping kept us from the overall win, the girls were nothing short of incredible. We’re beyond grateful to have Varsity back this year and what a fantastic day it was! Huge congrats to every rider and a massive thank you to Worcester for hosting!
