🩵 Early Learners:
This week the children have chosen a brilliant Julia Donaldson book “The Snail 🐌 and the Whale 🐳 “. This is a story of travel, adventure and friendship and inspires curiosity about the natural world 🌍
The children have enjoyed exploring the seaside tuff tray 🏝️, beautiful sea blue playdough with shells 🐚, creating our own fish and bubble pictures 🫧 . We also had fun with our fishing game🐠.
🩵 Preschool Room:
This week our topic was ‘All at Sea’. Another great concept chosen by our children. ✨ The children have loved our role play area which has been turned in to a beach. They have explored the shells and built sand castles. The sensory ocean trays have highlighted the importance of keeping the Oceans clear for the animals and of course our ice cream scooping tray has been a hit and helped strengthen our fine motor skills as the children have scooped and filled the cones. We have also enjoyed the pirates treasure area and walking the plank outside, made treasure maps and painted beautiful fish and sea creatures .☠️ 🌊 🪼
With lots of family holidays coming up our visitor today did a great job at explaining how to stay safe near water. 🌊 We were so excited to welcome Puddleducks for a visit today who helped teach us life saving skills.

A good Oral Health routine is so important for looking after children's teeth.
>>Start brushing your baby’s teeth as soon as the first tooth appears.
>>Brush twice a day (last thing at night and one other time).
>>Use children’s fluoride toothpaste.
>>Smear for under 3s, pea‑sized for ages 3+.
>>Spit out - don’t rinse.
>>Parents and carers should help and supervise children brushing until at least age 7 years.
>>Regular visits to the dentist.

💉Vaccinations - are you up to date?
It's been a busy few years for vaccinations. Is your child up to date? By now they should have had five sets of vaccinations. If you're not sure your child has had them all, check with your GP.
Don't panic if you've missed a vaccine, just make an appointment as soon as possible with your GP or health visitor.

🩵 Early Learners:
This week, the children have chosen another very popular book ‘Superworm’🪱. The lively, moving story has captured the children’s attention as summertime gets closer and helped pull them in to reading and activities📚. The worm, Superworm, is friends to many different kinds of creatures and helps them to get out of some difficult circumstances🪱🐜🪲🐌
This week we enjoyed following Superworm’s story and focused our play with the superheros 🦸♀️🦹♂️, Paw Patrol rescues, and worm game with tweezers for sorting and categorising🐝🪱🐞🐛. The children used the Hulk with the magnets 🧲 and keys 🔑. We painted worms 🪱 using pink string and textured brown paint for soil. We baked some delicious worm cakes 😋
🩵 Preschool Room:
Our topic this week focuses on ‘Our Local area’, this topic links to the Understanding the World area of the EYFS. 🏫🛒🗺💒
We have spent time looking at the different parts that make up our local area, including shops, Churches, library and schools. This topic gives children the chance to explore map skills and gives a greater understanding of their community and the people in it.
The children have enjoyed our role play shopping area, filling up their baskets and counting out their coins. We have explored maps of our local area using some amazing positional language and created our own model village. 🏫💒🗺

Help little brains develop healthy screen habits 🧠
For children aged 2–5, aim to limit screen time to no more than 1 hour a day and less if possible. Choose content with simple stories and clear, slow speech so emotions and language are easy to follow. Keep mealtimes and bedrooms screen-free, and encourage plenty of active play, reading, and family time. Children copy your habits, so try to limit your own screen use around them. New government guidance will help you set healthy screen time boundaries.

💬Communication skills
Around the age of 4 children typically use sentences of 4 to 6 words, for example 'I want to play with cars'. They often enjoy looking at books and listening to stories; they might answer questions about a picture story you have just read with them; they know the name of all the basic colours and they'll respond if you call them from another room. And they ask lots of questions!
Children develop at different rates, but if you're concerned about your child's talking and listening skills, talk to your health visitor or GP. You can find out more about communication milestones for 3- to 4-year-olds on the Talking Point website.
