We were so lucky today, Graeme Hall and professional dance partner Lauren Oakley popped in to Preschool today for a visit. They have been super busy rehearsing in the Barn, but came to say hello and tell us about their dance.
They have been busy practicing their Jive ahead of Saturday nights show.

We are a proud to share that our Manager Sam was invited on Friday to speak at the Childcare & Education Expo Conference! 🎤✨

This was such a wonderful opportunity and we couldn’t be prouder to see Sam representing Tithe Barn Preschool and sharing our passion for making inclusion part of everyday practice. 🩵

⭐️ Early Learners:
This week we have been learning all about Space🚀🌛✨
Our book focus has been Aliens Love Underpants. We have a story bag that supports this book with lots of different aliens in. This promotes the use of descriptive language as the children use lots of new and different vocabulary to describe the funny looking aliens 👽 ✨🪐 With this story we also learnt about body safety and personal boundaries- especially the rule that the parts of the body covered by underwear are private. Our goal is to help your children identify personal space and understand that private parts belong only to them.

The children have enjoyed exploring Space tuff trays with moon sand, rocks, astronauts and aliens. We created our own alien(with a shape theme), rolled marbles in paint to make planets,the space tent, the light up astronaut which projected stars on the ceiling and much more☄️💫🪐


⭐️ Preschool Room:
This week our topic was Nursery Rhymes. 🕰🧱💂‍♀️🚎🕷
Nursery rhymes are extremely valuable to support early language and communication development, build confidence and prepare children for reading and writing as they get older. ⭐️
We have all enjoyed sharing and singing our favourite songs together.🎶 🎤 🎵
Our activities this week have included, building a wall for Humpty Dumpty 🧱, exploring Old MacDonalds farm ,The Grand ole Duke of Yorks soldiers and fort 💂‍♂️ and developing their fine motor skills on the playdough table.
On the patio area, they have been developing their gross motor skills by using the ride on equipment, enjoying our “1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive“ bubble pouring tuff tray and using the outdoor bricks to build a wall for Humpty Dumpty. On our “creation station” we made some Incy Wincy spider pictures. 🕸️🕷️

⭐️ Early Learners:
This week we have been enjoying a Traditional Story the Three Little Pigs 🐷🐷🐷🐺. Stories with repetitive language help and encourage the children to be able to retell the story in their own words. At this age, we want the children to start picking up books and “reading” them themselves. You might find that children turn the pages saying repeated phrases like “I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” Fantastic early literacy skills 📚

The children enjoyed playing in the home corner turned to the farmyard to help re-acting the story🐷. At the art table, the children were painting and sticking pink pigs using lots of language related to the story🛖🏚️🏠. The children played with pink playdough, doll house, stickle bricks, train track and pirates. Outside we built brick houses, and the big bad wolf would huff and puff and blow the house down 🐺 💨

⭐️ Preschool Room:
This week we focused on the topic of Shapes ! 🟢🔻🩷🟦⭐️
Teaching shapes is important because it builds foundational mathematical skills, including spatial awareness and problem-solving. We have been exploring a variety of 2D shapes and talking about their properties.

We have created some fantastic rockets 🚀 using different shapes, explored colours and shapes with some printing and went on a shape hunt around the Barn where we compared how many squares verses circles there were. We noticed shapes were everywhere! 🟦🟢

🎒✨ Starting School Fayre at Tithe Barn! ✨🎒

We are delighted to be hosting our Starting School Fayre at Tithe Barn and would love to welcome ALL families to come along!

It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet our lovely local primary schools, find out more about what they offer, ask questions and start thinking about that exciting next step into school. 🏫💛

The Barn has been awash with colour this week as both the Early Learners and Preschoolers have been enjoying exploring their first topic of ‘Colours’. 🎨🌈🩵

In the Early Learners room this week we focused on the classic children’s book ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’🐻
This book follows a sequence of the things the Brown Bear sees 👀 . The children were involved in identifying different colours and animals related to this story🐻🐤🐸🐶.
The children have enjoyed exploring the colour themed sorting tuff tray, having picnic with bears in the home corner, Paw Patrol, colourful Duplo blocks and creating rainbows 🌈 and identifying colours with key workers. Outside we enjoyed polydron colourful shapes, water coloured mud kitchen, cars and hide and seek tuff tray. 🔎🔍🕵️

The Preschoolers have enjoyed exploring their colour matching sensory tray, learnt the Makaton signs for ‘ I can sing a rainbow’, created some beautiful Elmer collages, 🐘 colorful paintings and explored our Sunflower mud kitchen. 🎨🌻🌈🎨

We have loved getting to know all our new children over the last few weeks and have welcomed lots of new families into our Tithe Barn family. Everyone has settled in brilliantly. 🩵

💛 A little update on my Woodmancote venue…

The GOOD news 🎉 the new lease has been signed and the hall is now being run by Woodmancote Parish Council, so there will be no gap in the hire and our Friday group can go ahead as planned! 🙌

The not-so-good news is that it’s been VERY quiet at Woodmancote for me. Numbers have been consistently low for the last few months and, unless things improve, I’m going to have to make the difficult decision to close the group at Woodmancote Village Hall for good. 💔

So… how can you help?

If you’re free on a Friday with your baby or toddler and need something to do, please come along and give us a try. You don’t need to book - just turn up!

👭 Tell your friends!
If you can’t make it yourself, perhaps you know someone with a little one who might love it. Word of mouth makes such a difference to a small local business.
