This morning the Toddlers have been practicing scooping different materials they found in an autumn themed ‘soup’. They chose between using big or little spoons, or using the pots and pans to scoop up the gloop, lentils, leaves, pinecones and log slices.

This activity encouraged the Toddlers to use their motor skills (such as controlling small movements and hand/eye coordination).

Early Learners have had a fun filled morning exploring all things autumn! We started of the morning by getting involved in wake and shake, during this we played our playlist on the Alexa which has been selected by the children. During this, we incorporated musical instruments and listened to the sounds they made. After this, we participated in a variety of activities based around Autumn, in the tuff tray we added red lentils, chick peas, spiders and skeletons. On the table, we created beautiful autumn silhouettes using sponges, the children expressed their preferences and made independent decisions as they chose the silhouettes they would like to use. During both activities the children communicated well and used all tools and materials well! 🍂

This morning the babyroom took part in cling film painting. Each child had a section where they showed us their artistic skills using their hands and tools provided. After we were able to transfer their creations onto paper to take home.

Early Learners have been working towards their “duggee cleaning badge” this morning! As the children have expressed a keen interest in Hey Duggee this week we decided to create a duggee themed activity. This activity promotes the importance of hygiene routines such as washing ourselves, pouring using the tools and exploring new textures! During the activity we discussed the importance of washing ourselves hands before meal times and spoke about germs. The children had so much fun cleaning the duggee characters this morning and most certainly earned their “duggee cleaning badge” ☺️🫧🧽

Early Learners have had a wonderful morning exploring the big garden!

We started of by using our gross motor skills to climb, crawl through the tunnels, balance and pull ourselves up onto the climbing frame. During this we observed relationships being built by the children as they worked together to climb the ladder, went down the slides together and helped each other out.

Once we finished in the climbing frame area we decided to get the parachute out which the children were extremely excited about! During this, we used phrases such as “faster” and “slower” to build on the children’s understanding of these words we used an action alongside the phrase. We also incorporated weather changes such as, thunderstorms, wind, rain etc. We then added the small balls onto the parachute and watched them fly around!

We then explored the musical instruments, the children expressed their preferences as they decided on which musical instrument they would like to use we then sang our favourite rhymes and used our thinking cap to decide which rhymes to sing.

The children were very interested in the bugs in the garden so we found the bug jars so that we could investigate the bugs. The children discussed their length, characteristics and what they were!

As you can see we’ve had a very fun filled morning!🪱🐻☺️

Early Learners have participating in an activity based around Goldilocks and the three bears which has become a firm favourite within the room. The intent behind this activity was to explore language of size, recite familiar phrases from the story and explore sensory experiences. The children LOVED this activity and showed that they were able to organise the bears with the correct sized bowls as well as reciting phrases such as, “yummy scrummy porridge!” ☺️🐻
