¿CUÁNTO? vs ¿CUÁNTOS?

Do they have the same meaning? Check the explanation in the visuals.

When used in questions, they always carry an accent:
¿cuánto?
¿cuántos?
¿cuánta?
¿cuántas?

POR QUÉ, PORQUÉ, PORQUE & POR QUE

These four expressions look very similar, but they all have different meanings and uses in Spanish.

A little tip…
¿Por qué? = question
Porque = answer

¿CUÁNDO?
The question word ¿cuándo? means “when” in English. It is used to ask about time, whether something happens in the present, past, or future.

¿QUÉ OR ¿CUÁL?

Do you know the difference?
Both can mean “what” or “which” in English, but they are not used in the same way, and this is a very common mistake for Spanish learners.

¿Qué? → for general questions

¿Cuál? → when choosing from options

Por ejemplo:
¿Qué quieres comer?
¿Cuál prefieres?

There’s more to it, including when to use them with nouns and common mistakes to avoid.

Read the full blog in Learn Spanish with Lulu website to understand more clearly the difference between Qué & Cuál and find some useful exercises to practice:

¿CUÁL?

The question word CUÁL means WHICH or sometimes WHAT. :)

"CUÁL" is used when you are choosing from a specific group or set of options.
It should be followed by a verb or the preposition DE.

This word has plural: ¿CUÁL / CUÁLES?

¿QUÉ?

The question word QUÉ means "what?", and it can sometimes mean "which?", like the word "cuál?".

However, they are not interchangeable.

For today, let’s just focus on QUÉ. This word doesn’t have a plural form.

DÓNDE & ADÓNDE

“DÓNDE” means where. It refers to location, where something is or where something is happening.

ADÓNDE O A DÓNDE: both options are correct.
Both mean “where to?”
To use this question word, you must include a verb that involves movement towards a place, spot or destination.
