In that respect we at Pate's are very fortunate, and one of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is that I often have the chance to meet and talk with former

Today we were really pleased to welcome back Old Patesians Tom Frampton (Class of 2017) and Karthik Ramanathan (Class of 2025).

After leaving Pate’s, both Tom and Karthik joined Jaguar Land Rover, and it was great to have them back to chat to our Year 12 students about their career journeys so far and the opportunities at JLR.

A big thank you to them both for taking the time to come in and support our students.

We are greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Old Patesian Dame Felicity Lott.

‘Flott’, as she was affectionately known, attended Pate’s Grammar School for Girls from 1958 to 1965 before going on to study at the Royal Academy of Music. She made her operatic debut in 1975, achieving her breakthrough as a last-minute stand-in for the role of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. She went on to become one of Britain’s most admired and beloved sopranos.

She is pictured in September 2016 alongside former Pate's Headteacher Russell Ellicott at the Pate's Society lunch to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of Richard Pate.

A tribute will follow on Pate’s Connect at a later date.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of beloved former Cheltenham Grammar School and Pate's Grammar School teacher, Bob Beale.

Bob joined Cheltenham Grammar School in 1968 as Head of English at just 26 years of age. He went on to become Deputy Head, remaining at Pate's Grammar School until he retired in 2002.

Bob is pictured alongside his late wife Hilary.

A tribute will follow on Pate’s Connect at a later date.

Last week we were delighted to have a second Old Patesian visit school to give a talk to students. Khadeeja Wasi, who co-led the Maths Society at Pate’s last year, is currently doing a degree apprenticeship with Dyson.

"I thought that Khadeeja was an excellent presenter - she explained the concepts well and gave us plenty of time to practice applying the methods she demonstrated to problems. The topic was an interesting extension to the concept of moments that we learn about in A level Physics and Maths, and she also linked the theory to practical applications in engineering. I felt that everybody was both engaged and capable of accessing the level of challenge."
