Our Secondary trainees have completed their first week in their first placement schools today. It’s been brilliant getting to know them over the last 6 weeks but now the real work really begins! Looking forward to seeing you all in front of classes in the new few weeks!
What a week!! PGCE secondary trainees have had their first Subject Knowledge sessions including delivering small sessions to one another, visiting speakers, visiting schools and lots of great activities. We’re finishing the week with the first 2 days of our Behaviour ITaP; looking at how routines are embedded and support effective teaching practice. Everyone is ready for a much needed weekend ready to go again on Monday 🙌🏻

It was great to welcome our newest PGCE secondary cohort to the brand new for the first day of the course. It was brilliant to meet the next generation of teachers and start their teaching journey together in fantastic surroundings. The sun (and the ice cream man) even stuck around for us too! Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow!

Last week, one of our secondary trainees had the chance to visit in Hereford to further explore relational practice in an alternative educational environment.

Last week saw the release of the National Student Survey results. We were delighted with exceptional scores across all categories, but as a university and subject area that prides itself on its support and student centred approaches these results were particularly pleasing. Well done to all involved!

It’s been fantastic having our Secondary Trainees back on campus over the last few weeks. Completing an SEND ITaP Placement in local schools as well as thinking more deeply about pedagogy and practice in Professional Studies and some exciting and energetic Subject Knowledge lectures.
