What does an EV salesman daily drive? 🤔

700 miles. That's what I've covered in my EV in the last week. No problem, no concern, no drama.
Range anxiety still gets written about like it's 2018. The reality on the road is different. If you've got a driveway, you can charge the car while you're charging yourself, and the public network keeps expanding, week on week, charger by charger.
Plenty of the old EV myths haven't caught up with the actual ownership experience yet. This is one of them.
If you're weighing up your first EV and want a straight answer from someone who drives one every day, get in touch.

A lot of noise has been made about EVs missing sales targets. Honestly, it isn't the story people are making it out to be.
Yes, pulling some of the government incentives slowed things down. That was always going to happen. What's pulling in the other direction is fuel prices. We're seeing it from the chairs in our showroom, people coming back to electric because they've done the maths on what petrol and diesel actually cost them.
And the bit that doesn't make the headlines, the customers who've already made the switch. We talk to them every week. Almost none of them are going back.

Solid state batteries have been talked about for four or five years now. The reason they matter isn't capacity, it's charging speed.
Over in China there are EVs being recharged in roughly the same length of time it takes to fill a fuel tank. That single change knocks down the biggest psychological barrier people still have about going electric.
The tech is heading in the right direction, faster than most of the doubters are giving it credit for.

Bidirectional charging doesn't get talked about half as much as it should.
The idea is simple. You finish work, get home at 5 or 6, plug the car into the house, and your house runs on the rest of your car's battery through peak hours. Later in the evening, when demand drops, it swaps over and the grid charges the car back up. You leave in the morning with the range you need.
The tech to do this properly is still rolling out, but the logic is clean. EVs stop being just a car. They start being a battery for the whole system.

Electric camper vans are still a rare thing, and this one has had some clever work done.
2014 Nissan e-NV200 with a 40kWh battery upgrade for a real 100-120 mile range. Pop-top roof, rock and roll bed, roof solar panel to keep the leisure battery going off-grid, side awning, flip-down screen for a film in the evening.
50,000 miles, MOT, two keys, all cables included. £19,995.

I'd say I’ve earned my petrolhead credentials.
And honestly? My Model Y gives me the same buzz as the Autograss racecar I built when I was younger.
The power, the torque delivery… the only thing missing is the sound but does that really matter? 👇🔊

I’ll never refuse an opportunity to plug EVs.
The oil shortages across the UK have not only affected fuel prices but also supply for engines and gearboxes.
By comparison, an EV only uses a small amount of oil for it’s reduction gearbox.
For our ICE customers, don’t panic, we’ve already put in a larger order with our Castrol supplier to keep you covered.
This Tesla Model S drive unit is becoming a rare beast.
We stripped this one down and found a single failed phase on the circuit board. Instead of just sourcing a completely new unit, we’re now repairing at the modular level.
