It’s been a busy few weeks but we wrapped up with a Christmas themed bake off for 6 children aged 8-12 years.
Golden and flaky pinwheels filled with a variety of fillings followed by a festive chocolate log - a light chocolate sponge filled with cream and covered with a decadent chocolate ganache!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I spent this afternoon with 8 year old L who had requested to make churros after seeing them in a previous post of mine.
Keeping with a Spanish 🇪🇸 theme, we also rustled up a quick and easy version of a paella.
When children see the ingredients used in a recipe, they become more interested in the food and are more likely to try new tastes. Watching how different ingredients come together helps them feel familiar and curious instead of unsure. It also gives them a sense of pride and excitement, especially if they help prepare the meal. Seeing, touching, and smelling the ingredients makes the experience fun and encourages them to explore new flavors.

Cooking is an essential life skill. By teaching children how to cook at a young age, you are providing them with a valuable foundation that will help them become more independent and self-sufficient as they get older. Cooking also teaches children about food safety, hygiene and nutrition – all central to healthy living but often now taught less in schools.
I’ve had a brilliant few weeks working with an 8 year old who loves to cook. She’s not particularly interested in holiday camps/clubs so her mum booked 1:1 sessions with me learning to cook her favourite foods!
