What a fantastic day for our pupils at the South West Regional Athletics Championships at Millfield last Friday!

Our athletes produced a series of outstanding performances across both track and field events, resulting in an incredible number of podium finishes, with pupils securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd places throughout the competition. Their dedication, determination and hard work were evident in every event, and we are incredibly proud of all they achieved.

A special congratulations goes to those pupils who finished in 1st or 2nd place and have now qualified for the National Championships, which will take place in Birmingham on Wednesday 1st July. This is a tremendous achievement and a testament to their commitment and talent.

Well done to every pupil who represented the school so brilliantly. Your effort, resilience and sportsmanship were exceptional, and you should all be proud of your achievements.

We wish all of our national qualifiers the very best of luck as they prepare to compete on the national stage.

πŸ†πŸ΄ Foundation Riders Jump to Success πŸ΄πŸ†

The Dean Close Foundation riders had another fantastic weekend at our annual NSEA Show Jumping Qualifier at Rectory Farm.

We welcomed an incredible 50 schools and saw more than 200 rounds of competition throughout the day. Riders from across the Foundation, from Year 4 to Year 12, proudly represented Dean Close alongside some of the country's leading equestrian schools. 🐎

The day was packed with outstanding performances, with our riders securing multiple qualifications for both the NSEA National Finals and Grass Roots National Finals. πŸŽ‰

Beyond the results, the event was a brilliant showcase of the strength, talent and growing success of the Foundation's equestrian pathway. We are incredibly proud of every rider who competed with such determination and sportsmanship.

A huge thank you to everyone involved and good luck to those heading to the Championship Finals.πŸ†

🌟 What a fantastic morning our Year 7 pupils had for Healthy Living Day 🌟

Throughout the morning, pupils took part in four engaging sessions covering careers, first aid, personal safety, and outdoor education. One of the highlights was working together in teams to design and build their own catapults, putting their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test.

It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm as pupils learnt valuable life skills while having fun. The morning provided a fantastic opportunity to develop our 5Cs: Compassion, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Creativity.

A brilliant morning of learning beyond the classroom, with pupils embracing new challenges, supporting one another, and building skills that will benefit them both now and in the future.

Well done, Year 7! πŸ‘

It was an exciting week before the half term break for our Duke of Edinburgh pupils.

On Wednesday, last year’s Upper Sixth Gold Duke of Edinburgh pupils celebrated achieving their Gold Awards with a truly memorable day at Buckingham Palace. πŸŽ‰

They were treated to endless cups of tea, delicious cupcakes, inspirational speakers, and even a classic touch of British weather with a bit of rain. β˜•οΈ
It was wonderful to catch up with the pupils, celebrate their achievements, and hear stories of their adventures since leaving school. 🌟

Huge congratulations to them all on a fantastic achievement! πŸ‘

On Thursday, this year’s cohort began their final expedition as they set off into the mountains of Snowdonia for four days of hiking, adventure, and unforgettable memories. πŸ”οΈ

🐝🌍 World Environment Day 🌍🐝

Today we're celebrating the small creatures that make a big difference.

During our recent Eco WOW Day, children across the Pre-Prep discovered the vital role bees play in our environment. A visit from a beekeeper gave pupils a fascinating insight into the world of bees, while activities focused on recycling, sustainability and caring for nature. One of the highlights was creating wildflower seed bombs to help establish a new wildflower area on our school grounds, supporting bees and other pollinators. 🌻🌹🌷🌼

Through hands-on learning, our children developed a greater appreciation for the natural world and the small actions we can all take to protect it.

🌊 As part of our commitment to environmental education, will be at this weekend, exploring the importance of healthy oceans and underwater sustainability. Visit us to discover colourful coral reefs, meet amazing sea creatures and learn more about the incredible marine life that depends on healthy seas. 🐟
