☀️ Heatwave Advice for Elderly & Vulnerable People ☀️

With temperatures expected to remain high this week, it's important to take extra care of yourself and those who may be more vulnerable to the effects of the heat.

🌡️ Stay Safe During the Heatwave:

✅ Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
✅ Keep your home as cool as possible by closing curtains or blinds during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Avoid going outdoors between 11am and 3pm when temperatures are at their highest.
✅ Wear loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing and a hat if you need to go outside.
✅ Use a fan if available and keep cool with damp cloths or a cool shower.
✅ Eat light meals and avoid excessive alcohol or caffeine.
✅ Keep medications stored according to the instructions on the packaging.
❤️ Check on Family, Friends & Neighbours

Please take a few moments to check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, and anyone with health conditions who may need extra support during the hot weather.

⚠️ Seek medical advice if someone becomes unwell with symptoms such as dizziness, confusion, severe headache, rapid breathing, or if they stop sweating despite feeling hot.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look after one another during this period of extreme heat.
