Textiles Trip 🧵🖼️

Our Textiles students enjoyed an inspiring trip to London, beginning at the Saatchi Gallery’s Textile Art Redefined exhibition. Exploring innovative contemporary textile works, students gathered ideas and inspiration for their sketchbooks while discovering how artists use colour, texture and craftsmanship to express identity and tell stories. The day continued at the V&A Museum, where students explored its renowned costume collections, gaining insight into the artistry of embroidery, tailoring and theatrical design. The visit offered a fascinating look at how textiles can be transformed into powerful forms of creative expression.

It has been an exciting period of success for Cheltenham College's Equestrian riders 🐎⭐️

Fenella R (pictured) has been named on the Great Britain long list for the European Championships in Junior (U18) Eventing, a fantastic achievement and recognition of her talent and dedication. This follows an excellent 5th-place finish at Bicton against some of the country's top young riders.

At the National Championships at Hickstead (also pictured), Cheltenham College riders enjoyed outstanding success, with Phia V finishing 2nd in the 1m–1.05m Arena Eventing Championship to become Reserve National Champion, alongside a host of strong team and individual performances.

Most recently, at the NSEA Show Jumping competition, Mathilda V-D and Tamara secured qualification for the Show Jumping Championships at Hickstead later this year with 2nd- and 4th-place finishes in the 1.10m class, while Elizabeth C finished an impressive 7th in the 1m class. 🌿🦎 Lower Sixth Biology students enjoyed a fantastic field day at Bishops Wood, putting their scientific skills into practice while exploring the importance of conservation and environmental research.

From surveying plant and animal life to using professional-grade oxygen sensors and pH probes, students gained hands-on experience with the techniques used by environmental scientists today.

One of the highlights of the day was discovering several mating pairs of endangered great crested newts, along with their tadpoles – a rare and exciting find that highlighted the importance of protecting local wildlife.

Despite a day of alternating sunshine and showers, students embraced the challenge and developed a deeper understanding of how modern sampling methods help us monitor ecosystem health and inform conservation efforts for the future.
