I can't quite believe The Quirky Tutor is approaching it's 9th anniversary this November! It's daunting sometimes that I deliberately "fell" into this when I was in my 20s having dabbled in tutoring when I was at school myself. If someone told me at age 13 that I was going to be a maths tutor, I never would have believed them! Sometimes your vocation chooses you! I have been tutoring on and off for so long that I actually can't put a quantity on it, even though TQT is nearly 9, I have been tutoring for around 20yrs. With that said, I have space for 1-2-1 tuition both online and in person starting w/c 14th September, I will be relaunching my online lectures soon too. Feel free to book a call, as I am happy to chat and discuss options! I am very much student/family lead, so let's work together to guide the next lot of teens to 'fall' into their vocation!

I am moving to the Town Centre, from September I will no longer be tutoring in Cleeve/Woodmancote which feels surreal! However, it probably won't be forever as I don't seem to leave the village for long! Here's to a new chapter!

This doesn't just apply to SEN or neurodivergent students!

This picture is probably the closest I’ve ever come to explaining what so many families tell me they feel.

You ask for help.

You explain your child is distressed.
You explain mornings are getting harder.
You explain school is becoming impossible.

And slowly you start hearing things like:

“But everyone else manages.”
“They seem fine here.”
“Have you tried…?”
“They don’t meet threshold.”

And before long…

you stop trusting yourself.

You start wondering if it’s you.

If you’re too soft.
Too anxious.
Too involved.

But what if your child isn’t the problem?

What if they’re not refusing to fit…

What if the box was never built for them in the first place?

That doesn’t mean school is bad.
It doesn’t mean teachers don’t care.

But sometimes we become so focused on getting children into the box that we forget to ask whether the box actually fits.

This is the core beneath Simplified Support.

This is who I am.
A parent carer.
A professional.
Someone who has sat on both sides and knows how confusing and lonely this can feel.

But we also talk about nervous systems.

What distress can look like.

Need quick help before GCSE exams! 📚
I’ve opened a few last-minute slots over the next 7 weeks for students who need a confidence boost before exams.
These last few weeks need to be focused, targeted sessions to:

✔️ fix weak topics quickly
✔️ go through exam questions step-by-step
✔️ build confidence fast

I’ve been tutoring for over 15 years and specialise in helping students who feel stuck or overwhelmed. There is still time to go up a grade or secure that level 4!

Some days being a Tutor really gets to me! Today, I found all the Thank you cards, bday cards and just because cards from you all. Then I remember why I do what I do! They are now all up as a permanent reminder!
