Good Morning All - Tace here!
For those of you that don’t know me, I talk, and I talk ……. A LOT! So I thought I’d take a few minutes to try and introduce myself as I make up the other half of the VPA team.
………………..
Having worked in Polo and Point to Point yards whilst at uni, I started my veterinary career over 20 years ago as a veterinary nurse for a small animal hospital. My partner at the time, had a personal training gym, so I left nursing to manage the gym, which took me down the path of qualifying as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist. I opened my human sports injury clinic in Gloucestershire in 2004, however, I missed working with animals so decided to specialise and study massage; and obtained 2 massage diplomas, both distinctions in equine and canine.

At this time I was competing my own dog in agility, but what struck me as odd, was the lack of warm up and cool down for the dogs and owners; so I found myself at the World Agility Championships as Team England Therapist working with both dogs and handlers and there I stayed for 10 years working with some of the top partnerships (and still do!!).

I felt my qualifications didn’t support my knowledge, so at the age of 35 and with a 2 year old son in tow, I went back to studying and found the Level 7 CEPT course in Veterinary Physiotherapy (which is now the MSc at Nottingham University). I also found Claire, who became my study partner in crime! Once qualified, we both went on to qualify as Clinical Educators so that we could both teach Veterinary Physiotherapy to a high standard.

8 years on and having developed my business further, I specialise in injury rehabilitation, balanced conditioning and exercise prescription programmes for sporting and working dogs (predominantly agility but have elite competitors in caniX, racing, sheepdog and gundog trials to name a few). I run student clinics and placement days for vet physio students at Nottingham and other universities and I also teach Animal Science at Hartpury University.

The Vet Physio Academy has been years in the making and has been set up to provide support, mentorship, training and advice for students, graduates and qualified therapists and not forgetting client education as our clients need to understand what they should be getting from a vet physio and how to find them! I am a great believer in continuing to learn but also to take your time in mastering your skill set.

I own 2 horses and 13 working dogs and I live on an organic farm estate in Gloucestershire with my partner and rugby playing, surfing, F1 obsessed son! My weekends are taken up by ferrying my son around to his various sporting competitions and being a cheerleader 📣on the side lines 😂!!
