Helicopter pilot's licence PPL(H) training instructor and helicopter gift pleasure flights from Stav Helicopter Training

Yesterday we had a visit from our former student Holly, who completed her course with us 4 years ago in under 4 weeks. She came in her EC135 Juno helicopter that she flies for the Navy and will be moving on to Merlins as well.

It was commented by her trainer that she was easily able to hover the Juno without it's stability augmentation systems as she had learnt to fly the R22, while the others on her course found it far more difficult!

It was great to see her making her career in helicopters and doing so well!

A nav question for you today using today's forecast.

Today's F214 for the Gloucester area is 270/60 at 2000ft.

Plan a route from Wellesbourne Airfield to Shobdon Airfield using an IAS of 75kts (usual cruise speed for an R22 PPL). How long will it take you to get there? How long would the return trip be?

Now calculate using the same winds and IAS a trip to Wolverhampton Airfield to Gloucester Airport and back again. How much drift would you have in either direction?

All Phil wanted for Christmas was a red jacket and today he earned it when he completed his first solo. ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿพ๐Ÿš
