Weathering the Storm: Duke of Edinburgh Success.
Last weekend, our incredible Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Bronze cohorts took to the great outdoors for a challenging weekend of expeditions around Skreens Park.
The Silver Group tackled their practice expedition, kicking off from Hylands Park on Friday.
The Bronze Group faced their final assessment weekend, navigating their way from High Easter all the way to Margaretting.
Mother Nature certainly tested them with a remarkably wet and windy weekend, but our pupils showed phenomenal perseverance and refused to let the elements faze them. After long days on the trails, everyone thoroughly enjoyed warming up and drying off around a roaring campfire on both evenings.
The big news? All of our Bronze participants passed their assessment with flying colours. Huge congratulations to them all.
Now, the countdown is on as we look ahead to the Silver final assessment in Sussex in three weeks' time. Best of luck, team.

Last week, students celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s birthday with a special form time discussion around his life’s work and legacy.
We had some great feedback from students about the form time activity, so from all at Hylands School: Happy Birthday, Sir David Attenborough. Your is an inspiration to us all.
In addition, members of our Year 7 cohort also founded an ‘Eco Club’, with the initial meeting taking place last Thursday too. This is an opportunity for students to be of our school environment, and improve our impact in a wider sense. It’s wonderful to see our youngest community members taking the lead! They’ve even designed their own posters and advertised around the school. The next generation of environmental enthusiasts are present here at Hylands.
