This morning we filled one of our tuff trays with bubbles and provided a variety of everyday kitchen utensils, cups and different sized vessels for the children to explore.

Through scooping, pouring, measuring and transferring water, the children were developing their fine motor skills, mathematical understanding and learning to share resources with their friends.

They loved working together, experimenting and discovering how much water each container could hold.

🌿 A perfect activity for keeping little ones cool in the garden this weekend!

✨ Top tip: Save your money! Old measuring cups, bowls, jugs, spoons, whisks and even empty water bottles make fantastic resources for water play.

Sometimes, the simplest activities create the richest learning opportunities.

Today our children at Nursery enjoyed a wonderful creative experience in the garden, making their very own pizzas using natural materials, wood slices, paint and loose parts.

The children carefully painted their β€œtomato sauce” base onto the wooden pizza slices before selecting and placing their chosen toppings using tweezers and other hand held tools. This hands-on activity encouraged lots of concentration, creativity and imaginative play as they designed their unique pizzas.

Once complete, the children proudly carried their creations over to our pizza oven role-play area to β€œbake” them, extending their learning through storytelling and pretend play.

Activities like this support:
✨ Fine motor skill development
✨ Hand-eye coordination
✨ Creativity and self-expression
✨ Problem-solving and decision-making
✨ Imaginative and collaborative play
✨ Communication and language

It was fantastic to see the children so engaged, exploring different textures, colours and materials while having lots of fun outdoors.

Huge congratulations to our beach school teacher, Lisa on being shortlisted for a Teacher Award in the category for Climate and Sustainability.

Lisa’s passion for connecting children (& their teachers/carers and parents) with nature, inspiring environmental awareness and creating meaningful outdoor learning experiences is truly outstanding. Through her dedication she encourages children to explore, respect and care for the natural world around them, helping to shape the next generation of environmental champions.

We are so proud to see her hard work, creativity, and commitment recognised in this way. This nomination is incredibly well deserved, and we are all cheering her on. 🌊 πŸ¦€ 🐠 🌎 🦈

Today the preschoolers took on an exciting challenge – creating a football worthy of the World Cup.

The children explored shape, pattern, colour and creativity as they designed their own unique footballs. Some chose bright, bold colours, while others carefully added different sections, patterns and details to make their football stand out from the crowd.

Activities like this help children develop their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity and confidence in expressing their own ideas. It was wonderful to hear them talk about their designs and explain what made their football special and super bouncy.

We think there may be some future designers in our midst.

Community πŸ¦”πŸ’•

One of our fellow villagers kindly left us two giant pumpkin plants on our preschool step this morning on their way to work.

We were all super excited to find them and send our heartfelt thanks.
