Great Baddow High School: Sport Selection Scheme 2027 Entry Reminder

Parents of Year 6 students interested in applying for a Year 7 place through the Great Baddow High School Sport Selection Scheme should note the following key dates:

• Supplementary Information Form deadline: Midday, Friday 25th September 2026
• Sport Selection Assessment Day: Saturday 3rd October 2026
• Individual results issued: Wednesday 7th October 2026
• Essex Secondary School Application Deadline: 31 October 2026

Join us at the Great Baddow High School Open Evening

We are delighted to invite prospective students and their families to our Open Evening on Tuesday 22nd September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet our staff, tour our facilities, learn about our curriculum and discover what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.

Date: Tuesday 22nd September 2026
Time: 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
Location: Great Baddow High School

At the end of September and throughout October up until half term, we will also be offering daytime tours of the school, to see our school in action. Times and dates will be released after the Open Evening has taken place.

If you are interested in applying for a place at GBHS based on your child's aptitude for sport, further information and the application form is available on our website and there will also be a presentation about the Sports Selection Scheme at the Open Evening. The Supplementary Information Form for admission into Year 7 in September 2027 through the Sports Selection Scheme must be submitted NO LATER THAN midday on Friday 25th September 2026.

Great Baddow High School is proud to have been recognised with a prestigious award for its commitment to supporting students who are young carers.

Young carers are children and young people under the age of 18 who help care for a family member affected by illness, disability, mental health challenges or addiction. Balancing these responsibilities alongside school life can be particularly challenging without the right support.

The award has been presented as part of the Young Carers in Schools programme, delivered by national charities The Children’s Society and Carers Trust. This initiative provides schools across England with practical guidance and resources to help staff identify and support young carers effectively.

FREE Singing Workshop offered by Essex Music Services on Sunday 5 July 2026.
This one-day workshop is perfect for all abilities, whether your child is completely new to singing or already experienced.

This event is part of an exciting initiative to grow local singing opportunities and support the development of a future Essex Youth Choir and not a school event.

Don't forget, that we are here to support you throughout and a structured study programme is in place, providing valuable preparation time with teachers before each exam.
So continue to attend school, including tutor sessions each morning and take advantage of all the additional opportunities for revision.

We were delighted to welcome Michael Goodridge from Deka Chambers to speak with our Sixth Form about careers in Law and Criminology.

Students gained valuable insight into the differences between solicitors and barristers, the structure of a modern barristers’ chambers, and the wide range of legal career pathways available.

The session linked closely to their studies, with students asking thoughtful questions about the court system, trial processes, and the role of evidence and legal professionals. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world legal practice.
