Hi, I'm Richard, and this is CrisisCreative. I graduated with a degree in Theatre from Dartington College of Arts at the hight of Britpop and did a PGCE in Drama and Central School of Speech and Drama. I have been a respected and successful teacher of drama, in secondary schools, for over twelve years, working in Birmingham, Gloucestershire and Essex. I have led three drama departments. Most recently I was the Head of Drama at Moulsham High School, in Chelmsford. During that time I led the department to achieve and sustain the school's first A* grades at GCSE. I also run the campaign page and created two petitions to champion the arts in schools. My campaign to have expressive arts subjects included in the EBacc surpassed 100,000 signatures and was debated in parliament on 4th July, 2016: https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2016-07-04/debates/16070422000001/EbaccExpressiveArtsSubjects
Since January 2017 I have left full time teaching to pursue a career as an independent drama practitioner and consultant. CrisisCreative (that's me!) can offer a range of services to schools, community groups, businesses and other organisations and individuals. Workshops are available in areas as diverse as voice for the stage, Trestle and Commedia mask work, choral work, drama practitioners and drama forms. My repertoire of workshops will grow over time and I can offer bespoke topics on request. Other services include directing for exams, performance troubleshooting, character work, video filming and editing, writing for performance and education, stage management, working as part of ensembles and planning for education.
