Welcome to Munchkins Nurseries. We are a bespoke, small group of 6 nurseries owned by sisters Jo Callaghan and Liz Makins.

Welcoming nursery in Great Baddow for ages 0–4 🌿 Open 7:00am–6:00pm, 51 weeks a year 🍃 Funded spaces available 🌼 Play, learning & outdoor fun in a caring, homely setting 🌱 Come join our Munchkins family – where little ones grow happy and strong! 💚 Everything we do is centered around our amazing children and it is our mission to provide the highest-quality childcare and education for your little one. This is a magical time in your child’s development and it’s our job to provide a place that encourages children to explore the world around them! In our nursery, we help nurture children in a way that’s safe, secure, and highly individualized, and the key elements of our vision are:

🥣 Mixing, measuring and making memories!

There’s so much learning to be found in a little bit of baking. Our Munchkins got stuck in with mixing and preparing their ingredients together, building independence, turn taking and those all important early maths skills along the way.
We love creating hands on experiences where children can learn through doing, exploring and, of course, making a little mess! 💚

✨ Sensory Reflections ✨

Our Munchkins enjoyed a sensory play experience filled with reflective materials, interesting textures and lots of wonderful colours. 🌈🪞

The children explored how the light and colours bounced off the different reflective surfaces, spotting their own reflections and watching how they changed as they moved the objects around. 👀✨

With plenty of different textures to touch and investigate too, this open ended experience encouraged the children to use their senses, explore at their own pace and discover how different materials look and feel. 🙌💚

🚧 Little Builders at Work! 🚧

Our Munchkins got stuck into some brilliant construction play, making their very own pretend cement by mixing sand, cornflour and water. 👷🧱

The children scooped, poured and mixed the cement before bringing in the construction vehicles to transport it around their building site. They even had a go at using the cement with bricks to build their own walls. 🏗️✨

A little science, a lot of wonder. 💧✨

Our children explored what happens when oil and water are mixed together, making predictions, observing the results and discovering that some liquids do not mix. A simple experiment that sparked curiosity, encouraged scientific thinking and inspired lots of questions. 🔬💚
