How much should I help my child with their homework?

It’s natural to want to step in when your child is struggling, especially when you know the answer! But sometimes, giving them a little space to work through the problem themselves can be just as valuable.

Instead of giving them the answer straight away, try asking a few simple questions to get them thinking and help them work out their next step.

🎒 A new school year is the perfect time to get back into a few positive habits.

It doesn’t have to mean changing everything at once, sometimes the smallest things can make school days feel that little bit easier. 💙

Here are 5 simple habits to try:

⏰ Start with a routine: keeping wake-up, homework and bedtime routines consistent can help make busy school days more manageable.

📚 Read daily: even a short period of regular reading can help make it a natural part of their everyday routine.

🎒 Prepare the night before: pack bags, organise homework and get everything ready for the next day (and hopefully make mornings a little less rushed!).

✏️ Encourage independence: give your child space to attempt tasks independently before stepping in to help.

🌟 Celebrate consistency: finished their homework without a reminder? Kept trying when something was difficult? Those small wins and moments of progress count too.

Seeing our Kumon families outside the classroom is always so special. 💙

It was wonderful catching up with familiar faces, meeting new families and being part of such a fantastic community event.
