It’s nearly that time.. back to school!!📚

I am returning to work Mondays and Tuesdays, which is very exciting teaching a mixed Year 2/3 class. A whole new school, mixed year, part time and it’s all exciting!

We have some spaces for tutoring either online or in your home for KS1, 2, SATs Prep and 11+. Covering areas in Latchingdon, Danbury, Maldon, Chelmsford.

We have some online and in person availability for tutoring KS1-2, 11+ and Spanish for all levels including GCSE and A-Level.

It may feel like a weird time to be seeking tutoring as we near the end of the academic year, but we have a few children already who have entrance exams as early as November! Preparing Year 5 students entering Year 6, supporting Year 3 students entering Year 4 with times tables, reception children entering Year 1 preparing for lessons.

Who are we?

Louise and Joe Shanahan-Conder. We have been married for nearly 2 years and in September, welcomed our son Jonah to the world!

I’m Louise, I’ve been a teacher for five years. In that time and during my training I have taught years 1, 2, 5 and 6. Covering phonics, Year 2 SATs, Year 5 SATs preparation and Year 6 SATs, additionally I have also tutored for the 11+.

I’m Joe, I’ve been a teacher for six years. In my time I’ve taught Year 3, 4 and 5. I have also been a Forest School teacher which meant I took learning outdoors. Alongside my primary knowledge, I also speak Spanish fluently, being half Spanish, so offer tutoring in this area too.

As we are both teachers, we understand that sometimes your children might come home with homework that puts the fear of God in you, or starts asking how to use Fronted adverbials in their writing. Well, we can help as we believe tutoring is not just for the child, but it’s also to help you as a parent or carer feel more confident when working with your child.

If you’re wondering how can you engage with a child who is in Year 1 or 2. This was a recent session I did with a child who was wonderful engaged the whole time!
What did we cover? 🧠
• Making 10
• 10 grid
• Phonics phase 1 & 2 recap
• Listening to single sounds and blending to words
• Reading a classic fairytale together
• Labelling parts of a character and then using this to describe them

That was all, in 45 minutes!! 📚 🧠 🌟

• Another boosting a child’s confidence with Maths and finding enjoyment in it again.

Several sessions booked next week, but we have availability in the day if you’re self-isolating and want some support in home tutoring and after school for those who want to recap/catch up on missed learning through lockdown.
