Why Choose Us?

KSL Tutoring is a family run tutoring service with a combined total of 28 years teaching experience and we believe that every child should have the opportunity to be successful in their studies by achieving their full potential.

Katie qualified as a teacher with BA (Hons) at Canterbury Christchurch University and her degree specialises in primary education.
Stuart qualified as a teacher with a B.Ed (Hons) from Anglia Ruskin University and his degree specialises in maths.

Katie and Stuart are currently teaching in Essex schools and during their careers have taught children varying in ages from 4-11 years old and have both tutored children varying in ages from 7-17 years old.

We pride ourselves on offering a service that meets individual requirements. We regularly assess the students we work with celebrating their strengths and successes and identifying the areas in need of development. Once the gaps have been identified we work on addressing those needs accordingly.

We offer bespoke tutoring sessions according to the age, requirements and motivation of the student, so sessions may consist of working from past papers; challenges from text books/sheets; working through a topic with straight teaching or completing tasks on an ipad/laptop. Obviously some students may require a combination of some or all of these.
Our lessons will always be differentiated based on your child's needs to maximise their learning, but wherever possible will also be exciting and motivating.

What Do We Offer?

Reading and writing skills from the key stage 1 & 2 curriculum.
Maths skills from the key stage 1 & 2 curriculum.
Year 2 SATs.
Year 6 SATs.
Key stage 3 & key stage 4 maths curriculum.
Maths GCSE exams.

In addition to our experience in teaching and tutoring children in all of the above areas, we are also skilled in differentiating for those children who are finding some aspects of learning more difficult. We also have a proven track record of challenging children; giving them a deeper understanding, including supporting our students to be successful in securing positions at grammar schools.

A qualified teacher will lead each session and personalise the work to suit each student. Each session will be held in a well-resourced room in our home. Arrangements could be made for us to travel to you if you're unable to get to our house, however a small surcharge will be applied to cover travelling times and expenses.

If you require shorter sessions for younger children this can also be arranged.
We can also facilitate sessions for small groups which would be charged at a discounted rate per student. We have found that these can be extremely useful as the students have the opportunity to work together and discuss challenges, which deepens their understanding further.

Your son or daughter will be taught by one of our fully trained and experienced teachers. Through our careers we have learnt how to individualise learning when working in small groups, whilst still ensuring each student gets personalised lessons meeting their own needs.

Sessions can be paid for by cash or in advance using a bank transfer.
