π‘οΈ Important Update for Parents and Carers π‘οΈ
Due to the forecast extreme temperatures, Essex Youth Build has been closely monitoring conditions throughout the day and has completed a heat risk assessment of our premises.
As a construction-based training provider, much of our learning takes place in workshop environments where temperatures can become significantly higher than those recorded outside. The safety and wellbeing of our young people, staff and visitors remains our priority.
We have contacted parents and carers of all learners due to attend tomorrow to advise that we are currently monitoring the situation and that it is likely we will need to close due to the expected heat.
A final decision will be made once today's monitoring is complete. Should closure be confirmed, all parents, carers and support workers will be notified directly by email.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on our mobile number 07546683374 / [email protected]

βοΈ Important Heatwave Update for Parents and Carers βοΈ
Due to the high temperatures forecast over the coming days, Essex Youth Build is closely monitoring conditions within our training centre to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our young people and staff.
Tomorrow, we will be monitoring temperatures throughout the day and carrying out a heat risk assessment. We will continue to implement all reasonable measures available to us, including regular hydration breaks, reducing activity levels where possible and closely monitoring for signs of heat-related illness.
To help keep everyone safe and comfortable, please ensure your young person:
π§ Brings plenty of water with them.
π Wears a lightweight t-shirt that covers their shoulders.
π©³ Wears knee-length sports shorts or other appropriate clothing suitable for hot weather and practical activities.
π§’ Brings a hat if they wish to wear one during breaks.
Unlike a traditional school environment, our provision is primarily construction-based and takes place within an industrial training facility. The building has limited ventilation, no air conditioning and no alternative cooler indoor spaces available. Many of our activities are practical and physically demanding, which can increase the risks associated with extreme heat.
If conditions within the building are assessed as unsafe despite these measures, we may need to make the difficult decision to close on Wednesday. Any decision will be based on the safety and wellbeing of our learners and staff and will be communicated to parents and carers as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Thank you to Essex Business Partnerships for supporting this event and helping us raise awareness of the work Essex Youth Build does every day.
As CEO of Essex Youth Build, I am incredibly proud of what our team, volunteers and young people achieve. Every day we work with young people who have faced significant barriers in education, employment and life, helping them gain skills, confidence, qualifications and a pathway towards a brighter future.
However, organisations like ours cannot do this alone. The support of local businesses, funders, schools, local authorities and community partners is essential if we are to continue providing opportunities for the young people who need us most.
I would personally like to invite businesses from across Essex, particularly those within the construction industry, to join us on Tuesday 30th June. This is an opportunity to see first-hand the difference your support can make, meet some of our trainees, and explore how together we can develop the future workforce whilst ensuring that vulnerable young people are not left behind.
At a time when many young people are at risk of becoming disengaged from education, employment and training, the need for organisations like Essex Youth Build has never been greater.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our vision for the future.

π οΈ Another fantastic Holiday Trades Club completed at Essex Youth Build! π
Over the May half term, we welcomed children and young people with SEND for two days of hands-on learning, confidence building, and plenty of practical fun.

This was the second time we've run our SEND Holiday Trades Club, and it was brilliant to see so many young people growing in confidence, trying new activities, and taking pride in what they achieved. π

This Knife Crime Awareness Week let's bust some myths.
MYTH: βMost young people carry knives.β
FACT: The vast majority of young people in Essex do not carry knives.
Knife carrying is rare β but the fear of knife crime can feel much bigger than the reality.
Focus on facts, not fear. Support conversations and don't make assumptions.

Knife Crime Awareness Week:
MYTH: βCarrying a knife keeps you safe.β
FACT: Carrying a knife actually increases the risk of serious harm β to yourself and others.
A weapon doesnβt offer protection. It escalates situations that might otherwise end safely.
Real safety comes from trusted adults, safe spaces and support.
