Jesters Kids Club- Bicknacre

Jesters Kids Club- Bicknacre Jesters Breakfast & After-School Clubs and Holiday Activity Days in our rural setting offer a safe, exciting environment.

Children aged 4-12 come together to enjoy a stimulating, secure place of fun and learning in our fantastic facility and large garden. Breakfast, After School & Holiday Childcare for 4-12 year olds

We’ve created and provided a safe, activity filled environment for school age children up to 12 years of age, from all backgrounds, who can come together and enjoy a stimulating and safe place of fun and learning. This allows parents and carers to work, study or rest with the peace of mind that their children are happy and cared for. Our Breakfast, After School and Holiday sessions have been specially created to encourage all children to develop their social skills, form new friendships and acquire new interests in great activities, whilst being looked after, provided healthy nutritious meals and snacks, and having lots of enjoyment! At Bicknacre, we have a large un-overlooked garden surrounded by countryside fields. It is equipped with some large, age-appropriate play equipment and plenty of open space to encourage physical activity, support children’s balance and co-ordination, enable a love for nature, promotes team games, forest led experiences, risk taking and supports every child’s wellbeing. From our ‘Fantastic Fun Theme Days’, eco-play garden, arts and crafts, music, cooking, science experiments, all things nature and the great outdoors to name just a few; Breakfast, After School and Holiday care will never be the same again. So why not let Jesters provide the safe, healthy, caring, and happy environment your child needs?

Breakfast and Afterschool club is back with a bang (or splat)! 🖌

Last week we channelled our inner Jackson Po***ck and tried our hand at splatter painting to update our artwork within the setting.
The children created the art outside and then tried their hand at interior design as they took it in turns to lay out the canvases in different formations to see which they liked best.

They showed great teamwork as they discussed what worked well with each layout before unanimously deciding on the layout which has pride of place on the wall.

Check back to see what we get up to next! 😀

Summer Spotlight!

During the summer we took part in an animation workshop with the incredibly talented MaX. Animator/ Illustrator.
Max has worked on many well known and loved shows such as Mr Bean the Animated Series and the brand new Coyote Vs Acme film, as well as his book My Rice is Best!

The children learnt about Character design and how to draw their penguin so it could be animated into a moving image.

Check out our animation below!

Today we ventured to Writtle Maize Maze. 🌽

We braved the winding paths, finding the letters along the way to reveal the winning phrase. Luckily everything was coming up roses as we found our way and retrieved our prize. 🌹

Thank you, we raised £192.50! 😍🌳👊

On Thursday 6th August, our weekly Summer Holiday Club trip of choice was something a little different. We decided to have a sponsored walk and picnic in our local Essex Wildlife Trust Thrift Wood Nature Reserve, just around the corner from the Bicknacre setting.

As our theme was ‘Around the World’ and week 3 was packed with activities relating to ‘The Americas’ we chose to support The Land Trust and Steve Backshall’s mission to preserve Ecuador’s rainforests.

Our target was £110, using 95% of the trip fees. This equates to saving a space the same size of the Kids Club garden. We’re delighted to say we actually raised £192.50! So a huge thank you to those who also donated extra to this brilliant cause.

What a way to kick off week 2 of the summer holidays!

Today we went to Clacton where we were met by Chris from the RNLI, who showed us around the lifeboat station. We learnt about the boats they use, the importance of their role and how to stay safe near and in the water.

Then we headed to the beach to practice the water safety skills we leant as we paddled on the waters edge.

Tomorrow we continue our Europe adventure.... 🌍
