We have loved supporting the ‘Making it REAL’ project and we are looking forward to what comes next 🤩

Congratulations to Little Darwins Nursery who have received their Making it REAL home learning bag of resources!

Well done to all the team who help their families understand the importance of early literacy and that they are their child’s most important educator.

The setting have brought to life early writing, environmental print, books and oracy through a range of parent events inside and outside the setting and have enjoyed getting to know families more during home visits! Well done Little Darwins!

The sun is shining so we took advantage early morning to get outdoors before it became too hot ☀️
The children enjoyed the cool water play in lots of different ways. They even come up with their own ways to create shade… making a hole in the wall cafe!

Hot weather superheroes ☀️

Our staff and children have handled the hot weather amazingly this week.

We follow our sun-safe policy and procedures when we experience high UV ratings and heat. Some procedures include using shaded areas as much as possible, drinking plenty of fluids, staying indoors between 11am-3pm, and having lots of play that cools us down - water, water, and more water! For our children, outdoor play is important, so we have ensured they have had the opportunity to play outdoors safely but with less physical exertion.

We have been teaching children how to keep their bodies safe and healthy, as it can be difficult when the routine or normal procedures are different. The children have enjoyed lots of low-level small group play, which has supported them to stay cool and not cause themselves exhaustion. As well as regular rest breaks, we have also had surprise ice lollies!

We look forward to some more summer sun, maybe with the heat lower than 30, please. 🙏

National Bee Day 2026🐝

Our Innovators children we excited to learn all about bees from our special visitor, the bee keeper! Children had the opportunity to learn facts, dress up as a beekeeper and try some local honey.

Our school risers took all they had learned to make representations of their own bees, they all made meaningful marks to represent their ideas!

Spring is a wonderful time to explore the wildlife around us and we are very lucky to go on nature walks every day to explore 🌻

Our nursery curriculum is designed from the world around us, developing knowledge of the natural world, outdoors, events and celebrations in our world. Recently we paid homage to St George’s day through learning about knights, dragons and the story of Zog. During that week children made their own hobby horses using recycled socks and natural items found outdoors. The children were challenged by the physical aspect of holding the sock open while stuffing natural items at the same time, they then had the support of the adults to tie their own knots to secure their horse. They showed great perseverance!

The children loved their knights horse race at the end.
