Itsekiri Language Self Directed Learning Guide.
We will start the self study process from lesson one and give 1 month for each set of lessons.
*Month 1: Foundations - Phonetics and Alphabets *(Focus: Building Sound Confidence)
Learn the Itsekiri alphabet and sounds using the phonetics chart. Goal: Pronounce letters and simple words accurately.
* * 1. Study the chart’s vowels (A, E, I, O, Ọ U, nasalized like an, en) and examples (e.g., A as in “Ara” for body). Watch video 17 (Ukpe Ẹghan ABIDI) and repeat transcriptions Practice: Record yourself saying the alphabet; compare to video.
* 2 Primary consonants (b, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, r, s, t, v, w, y, z). Use chart examples (e.g., B as in “Baba”). Transcription practice from video 17 and 18.
