Last Monday, four of our Year 6 children took part in the Cheadle Hulme High School Maths Competition. We have attended this competition for many years but this year the format had changed and all schools were competing for the coveted CHHS Maths Challenge Trophy.

The children had to take part in fast paced problem solving and partner relays. All four boys showed great resilience and determination throughout the event, not giving up even when the maths was really complex. Mrs Irwin and Miss Tilzey were so proud to be at the event with the boys and are very happy to announce that Oak Tree are now the first ever winners of the new CHHS Maths Challenge! A huge congratulations to the boys!

🏆 Maths Competition 🏆

On Monday, Miss Tilzey and Mrs Hall had the pleasure of taking 8 of our Year 5 pupils to compete in a maths competition at Stockport Grammar School. Through fast-paced group and partner relays mixing arithmetic & problem-solving, they showed amazing determination to answer tricky questions.

They had great fun and worked brilliantly as a team.
Massive well done to all who took part! 🌟👏

Last Friday (8th May), the whole school celebrated David Attenborough's 100th birthday. As well as being a global icon, Sir David is the figurehead of our value - kindness. The children took part in work throughout the day all about the natural world, explored the school grounds and even made up animals and named them after Sir David! We all came together as a school and learnt more about his life and career, and shared birthday cards that everyone had made. We hope you had a wonderful 100th birthday!

A huge thank you to Mrs Fitzgerald who was a governor of Oak Tree for many years. Her leaving gift to us was this magnificent mural which was completed this week. We love it!
